The SAO trigger is extremely good very crisp and very short tactile resets for rapid follow up shots. I mounted a Romeo 1 Pro red dot and a Streamlight TLR -7A fits perfectly on the rail. This is a very accurate and reliable pistol. The quality and legendary reputation with LE and military provides added reassurance for defending yourself and those close to you. This is my primary EDC. Although the SAO version has the manual safety unlike the DA/SA version, I prefer the SAO light trigger and consistent and not a heavy first pull and then lighter pull. The G10 grips are very aggressive but not too harsh for a very solid immovable grip. One of the negatives is that it’s a bit heavy to carry in all situations but gives the gun a solid platform for follow up shots. Jhp ammo runs great through it and can co-witness with suppressor height sights. I currently have three other 229, a 226 and a 220 which I have never had a problem accessing the slide catch lever.\nI carried a P229 when I was with a Federal agency and never had an issue with my clothing ever snagging. I have a LE model black P229 which like all my Sig's are great reliable weapons that I have carried for over 20 years and would have no problem with no issues. They are as accurate as the shooter.\nOther than the slide catch lever, the P229 Legion is another Great Sig product. If I had to say something negative about it then it would be nice if a cheaper red dot would fit. I'm extremely sad to say, if you decide to remove the Romeo sight, you have to spend an additional $60 to purchase a cover plate to cover the area where the red dot sat. Spending $1500 on a gun, THE PLATE SHOULD BE INCLUDED! I've been wanting one ever since. My dream came true last year. I immediately went to the range and began to shoot. The slide failed to go all the way forward. I went home and contacted Sig Customer Service. They sent me a new spring. Shot it last week, no problems, smooth, extremely accurate, comforable to shoot. I couldn't ask for a better firearm. On a side note. Customer service has never let me down. They are supportive and responds quickly to any concerns. I highly recommend this weapon. Since August of 2022 I've bought 3 of them. First the P365XL, next the P320 M17, and now the P229 Legion. I love them all, but the Legion is next level.\nIve never pulled a trigger like this one. I have approximately 500 rounds through it and there is nothing I can complain about. It fits my hand perfectly and I love the cerakote color. I picked up a couple of extra mags because it is so fun to shoot who wants to waste time reloading? The P229 in DA/SA include a reduced and contoured Elite beavertail, which allows for a higher grip, but a reduced profile, thus eliminating printing. More aggressive front strap checkering and additional checkering under the trigger guard enhance the grip. An X-Five undercut has been applied to the trigger guard, allowing for a higher grip and greater control. Front cocking serrations provide greater purchase for cycling the action, clearing the firearm, or conducting press checks. The pistol is available in 9 mm and also features low profile decocking and slide catch levers to reduce the risk of snagging. An enhanced polished action with the SRT (Short-Reset Trigger) is augmented with a Grayguns, Inc. designed P-SAIT trigger.
