Bikes are exactly what we wanted. The employees of Trek of Lakeville were extremely helpful, pleasant, and knowledgeable. They helped find the bikes that would work for best for us! We drove from Cape Cod to make this purchase and it was definitely worth the hike for the service and attention to detail.
Love the Verve 2! I wanted something upright with wider tires! Its a great bike! Looks nice rides nicely and is made well and very light weight! The seat has very little cushion so it's uncomfortable for me. Although its an easy fix I really wish I didnt have to spend more money on a new seat as this was a big investment for me.
Great on the streets and trails that surround where we live. We had Giant bikes for the last 20 years so it was time for an upgrade. The Giants were wonderful but we were so impressed by the Trek Verve 2 we couldn't say no. I got Red and my wife got the Gray in the step thru. They ride, shift and stop great. I'm 67 and the comfort of the seat and upright position of the handlebars helps a lot.
I purchased my Trek Navigator 200 at American Cycle & Fitness in Walled Lake, Michigan about 22 years ago. Took it in for a tune-up a few weeks ago and they discovered that there was a small crack in the frame. The last thing that I wanted to do was spend money on a new bike.
ACF worked with Trek and, because the frame has a lifetime warranty, I received my replacement bike today, a 2021 Verve 2 Disc in Rage Red, completely free of charge! Talk about standing behind your product, freaking Amazing!
Road my new bike 10 miles home from the store and it is awesome! The Rage Red color is beautiful. Shifting is smooth. Hydraulic brakes give an added sense of security. Very comfortable sitting in a more upright position on both pavement and rails to trails. And just a lot of fun. Can't wait for my next ride tomorrow which I can easily go 20 miles.
Finally, I want to thank everyone at American Cycle & Fitness for their awesome customer service and great communication throughout this process. Great store and great people who work there. Definitely a 5-star recommendation for everyone involved, both ACF and Trek.
I've owned my 2021 Verve 2 Disc for about three months, after being lucky enough to find it at a local Trek store in the middle of the pandemic. Like most of us, I needed to get out more and get some exercise--but hadn't owned a bike in 10 years (my last was a comfort bike from another brand). Tried the Trek FX first, but decided I wanted to ease back in with the slightly more upright and comfortable Verve. Turned out to be a good decision for me.
This bike seems well put-together, looks great in the deeply metallic Rage Red with silver accents, and comes with decent drivetrain materials. I noticed the difference in shift quality between the lower-level FX 1 and Verve 2 immediately. My only real complaint about the drivetrain is that the action of the front derailleur could be smoother; a several times I've had it take exceedingly long to shift or slip entirely, getting jammed between the second and third sprocket. The rear derailleur has fortunately been trouble-free and shifts quickly and positively, and I really like the trigger-based gearshifts (being familiar only with twist shifters before now).
The Verve-specific seatpost suspension is appreciated, as it's a feature I had on my previous bike back in the 2000s. Although this bike lacks any other kind of suspension, the ride is easily comfortable enough for my trips to the park with my son or my lunch-hour workouts on the neighborhood streets. The wide tires definitely do slow the bike down some, so just make sure to keep them well inflated so you don't bleed too much speed.
The disc brakes, despite being entry-level disc equipment, are fantastic binders that are way more performant than the linear pulls I'm familiar with. Meanwhile, the quick-release front and rear wheels and lightweight aluminum frame make it easy to transporting the bike in a typical sedan (they fit fine in my Charger).
Overall, I feel this bike was worth the investment and I'll take care of it for years to come.
So Far, So Good. Only been on a couple rides, Bought it about a month ago. The bike is so smooth. Better than any bike I've ever owned. Seems like it is built to last, if so it will be worth the investment. Very Happy so far. My knees are happier also as I transition from runner to biker.
The verve 2 the handle bars are in up right position. If your riding any distance it puts less pressure on your back by not having to bend over so much. I did replace the seat as that is important not to have that sore butt. With 24 speed the gears change nicely and when climbing steep hills the low gears very nice to have. I do like the thicker tires as less likely to get a puncture. So far a great bike!!
Bought because I needed a more upright riding position. Choose Trek bec of positive reviews. Very pleased with the comfort, handling and ride-ability. Only issue I have is with the shiftiing - the shift levers, esp rear deraileur, could be more positive in feel. With practice I can make good shifts but it took some time to figure out out to make the shifts correctly. Not sure if is a design issue or just an adjustment, but I can live with it because overall the bike is great.
I just like it overall. at 52yo i dont get crazy anymore on my bikes and this one is really nice for whatever you want to do. Has a seat suspension which helps absorb bumps and rough terrain but havent really taken it out lately because weather.
I purchased the Verve 2 as a birthday present to myself, and it has yet to disappoint me! I have been getting out way more after this purchase largely due to the comfort this bike rides with. I am 5'5" and purchased size small and it fits like a gem!
I went from an older, traditional mountain bike to this Verve and was amazed right away at how it felt. You sit upright and immediately you'll feel the weight off your arms and shoulders making it easy for longer trips. Wife and I went 8 miles the first night. Sitting up, you'll definitely catch some more wind and it's not designed for racing speeds but it is just so much easier on the body. Perfect cruiser.
My wife and I bought Verve 2 bikes to try to get some outdoor exercise in during the pandemic. We're casual riders and these bikes are comfortable, stable, and very easy to ride. We're very happy with them and would definitely recommend them for recreational riders or people who haven't ridden in a while.
We both have verve2's and think they are a great fit for us. Get Outdoor Pedal in Greensboro, NC are great. Chris helped us find the right model and fit. The rest of the staff are equally helpful as we've returned for accessories. We just got home from a nice ride on the Swamp Rabbit trail (rail to trail) in Greenville, SC.
