These pants are almost perfect. They are lightweight, comfortable, and stylish. The fit is exactly as it looks on the model. I am 5'3" 110lb and bought an XS. My ONLY problem is the lack of stretch in the waistband. I have a slight hourglass figure (not extreme in any way) and I have to give these a good tug to get them over my hips. Once they are on, they fit perfectly in the waist. It wasn't a deal breaker for two out of the three pairs that I bought, but one (the Rainstorm color) had no stretch at all and so I had to return it. I'm not sure if I received a defective pair or if the material in that color is different for a reason.
I was looking for a more loose-fitting pair of pants for hot summer days and found my new favorites!
I agree with other reviewers that the waistband is a bit looser than expected but it does not detract from the great overall fit. I'm 5 feet and half an inch and normally a XS or S and got it in Small, 25 length. I think an XS would have been too tight for me, so getting get a size up was a good tip.
I fold the hem twice so the pant legs hit a bit over my ankles. The pant fits me perfectly and is super comfortable. I like the lightweight yet stable material. The pockets are a bit too small to be useful for a phone but I like that there are pockets in the first place, and having the zippers helps keep stuff in place. They also help with the overll look and keep the pockets flat.
They will be great for all kinds of Colorado activities!
I will get it in other colors too. Thanks for making short pant lenghts! More of these options please!
This is a very comfortable pant that looks very sharp. I love the practicality of it- zipped pockets etc. The material is non creasing and holds its shape, so you can easily take it through to the evening.
I love these pants. Light and airy. I wear them for climbing. They stretch but hold their form. I like the cut of them as well. I ordered a medium and they were big but I kept them for days I need room to expand. I did order a pair of the smalls too. I plan to grab another pair or two before they discontinue them.
I was looking forward to these pants, as the fit seemed really nice online and the colors were beautiful. When I got them, I didn't even try them on because I was looking for a soft pant, as soft as the accompanying Inara Short-sleeved shirt. These aren't soft.
Bought these pants for my wife while we’ve been working from home. She wore them for three days straight! She says they’re very comfortable, well fitted and cute. She got them in the Koal color. She’ll likely want to pick up a few more pairs in different colors.
Absolutely love the Freeflex Metro pants! Bought one pair, and quickly realized I needed to buy more colors and various lengths because one pair would never be enough! Comfortable beyond description! Great for everyday wear, travel, hiking, you name it! Not my first pair of Kuhl pants, and certainly not my last! Love Kuhl quality, and everything they stand for!
These pants would be much more comfortable and stylish if the waist band tie were in the inside and had a snap or button opening. They are too baggy in the hips and butt. I like the light weight fabric.
Clown Pants!!! (sizing is way off for XS - not for petites)
Short Version: 2 stars I guess for nice fabric and construction. Too bad the fit makes them unwearable. These likely won’t fit well on anyone who’s petite. If you're curvy and at least average sized, if not larger, then maybe you'll find the correct fit and love these pants. If you struggle to find outdoor pants that run small enough for you, keep looking or learn to sew.
Longer Version: I ordered the XS Short/25” inseam. The pants are so much larger than the size chart indicates that the fit does not whatsoever resemble the product photograph. The photo makes them appear snugly fitted without being constricting. In reality, they fit like giant, baggy, clown pants, especially around the hips and thighs. These are falling off of me so badly that not only are they ridiculous looking, but even the drawcord won’t cinch them in enough to be able to use them hiking with a backpack. I will have to pay return shipping.
Measurement Details (in case they’re useful to another shopper): My measurements for reference: 92 lbs. / 4’11” / Waist (natural/narrowest) 25” / Waist (where I wear pants waistbands): 28” / Hip 33.5” / Thigh (at top) 18” / Inseam 25” According to Kuhl’s size chart, I’d need a size 0 to fit my hips. Alas, the Freeflex Metro only goes down to XS/2. But the short version should at least be the right length for my squatty legs! Kuhl size 2 bottoms according to their size guide: Waist (supposedly “around waist where you normally wear your pants" ?!) 24.5-25.5” / Hip 35-36” Freeflex Metro XS Short (25" inseam) garment measurements: Waistband (neither stretched or cinched) 29.5” / Hip 40”!!! / Thigh (at top) 22.5” WHY?! / Ankle Opening 11” / Inseam 25.25” / Front Rise 9.5” / Back Rise 14.5”
Notes to Kuhl: (1) Please consider carrying smaller sizes. I’m not sure why you show a size 0 in your size chart, yet your XS pants are only meant to fit size 2. I am not the only petite woman out there! And, no, we can’t simply wear children’s clothes once we have hips to accommodate. (2) Please consider creating petite size clothing, rather than simply shortening the hemline, which could quite easily be adjusted by customers anyways by simply hemming. Short women generally need everything adjusted to get a good fit. This includes pocket placement, knee detail placement, and how quickly pants taper in or out above and below the hips. (3) Please correct your size guide that says to measure “around waist where you normally wear your pants.” This is not how waist measurements should be taken for fitting; they should be taken at the narrowest part of the waist, even if that’s higher than you wear pants. Moreover, it’s pretty obvious from the number of inches you indicate in your size guide, as well as from the pants that I ordered, that Kuhl garments are constructed according to the traditional narrowest point measurement, not “around waist where you normally wear your pants,” which is actually much lower and wider.
The freeflex metro is great for any activity or just everyday lifestyle. Kuhl has done a good job with the fit, and they are super comfy. I got the long as I am 6', and the length is where I want it to be for an ankle pant. I got 2 colors and love both!
Have two (koal and rainstorm). I'm 5'5" and 120 lbs. The small fits perfectly. The new color (rainstorm) is particularly nice -- a little bit different, but still goes well with other colors. These are really comfortable and light weight. Don't know how they'd hold up with heavy hiking, but I use them for everyday. Have more rugged pants for mountain hiking. But for everything else, couldn't be more delighted. One note -- they are a bit short, but that's the style.
I don't usually wear this style of pant, but my daughter talked me into them. Very glad that she did. They are great casual day pants and I'm especially looking forward to wearing them this summer. Very lightweight material.
Can wear this probably anywhere - on the couch, out volunteering, casual fridays, hiking, traveling.....you name it. These have become my go-to everything pant. They are sleek, stylish, but also incredibly versatile. They are light weight, so the only use I could see them not working for is late fall / winter hiking. Very flexible and comfy material, great pockets as well (zip, and extra inside pockets!)
These pants have accidentally become part of my work wardrobe. I bought them for non work use but now realize they are an easy solve for work pants. I pack them in my bike bag when I commute, shake them out, put on a work appropriate top and voila. Thanks Kuhl!
These pants went above and beyond my hopes and expectations. I am 5' tall, 145 lbs, curvy (hourglass shape) and the medium was the perfect fit. Often times my pants pill in the inner thighs after the second wear. These pants are not pilling! I just ordered a few other Kuhl Freeflex pant options this morning as they are very versatile. I have already worn these with my Tevas & stiletto pumps! Thank-you Kuhl!
I love these pants. Bought my first pair and decided I needed another. Then decided I needed another. Now I have three in grey, indigo and black. They fit perfectly, love that you could choose the length!
These pants are a new favorite! I'm actually wearing them right now! They are comfortable, flattering, and versatile. I can wear them hiking or just bopping around town. They are also lightweight and perfect for warmer weather. I did notice however that they run a little big/long - I am usually a small but needed to return for an XS in the "short" length. For reference, I am 5'4 and 115 lbs. All around this is a great product and I highly recommend.
