Comfy, lightweight but with no side zippered pocket for smartphone
I was on the fence about these, simply because initially I had envisioned wearing them mostly for hiking. However, after seeing them and trying them on, I can see that they might be a good warm weather jean replacement, as well as a possible warm weather hiking pant. The only thing that gave me pause was the pockets - the lack of any side zippered pockets. The little front zippered pockets would be great for keys or other small things, and a smartphone will fit in the back pockets. But, of course, they are much like jean pockets and the top quarter of the phone sticks out, so if you're hiking, bending over a lot, scrambling up and down over boulders, etc., I would be very concerned that the phone would easily fall out. However, for just a light, easy hike or even running errands, the pants would work great. They seem well made, though thin (not see-through, just lightweight fabric), and as someone mentioned, the elastic waistband is a tad larger than usual for the pant size. Which works great for me. At 5'2", 116 lbs., 34" hips, and with a 36" bust, my waist is larger than the waist/hip measurements shown on size charts, ahd the Small fits me perfectly and comfortably with no bagginess. As to length, the pants came down to my ankles, just as depicted on the website model.
