I added footbed inserts to lower the contact point on my ankle. This helped one ankle, but the other is still quickly rubbed raw, even with thick socks. For me, these boots were an expensive investment. I'm looking for ideas on other things I can try to be able to comfortably wear them. I called cust service to ask why the instructions say any fedex location, and she asked me the same questions over and over again. I repeated myself numerous times, finally sending a copy of the instructions that I was sent, but which do not work. This did not resolve anything, but I plan to take another trip now to the post office. The insole is removable for my orthotic, but even if I put it on top of the insole it's roomy. Returned them same day received.I wore timberlands in the past at regular width and had no trouble fitting, but these boots were made for a fatter and longer foot. I checked the box to make sure it was not a mens' size. The padding could be a little better for comfort, but these looked attractive in the camel with aqua cuff color. The color is not described correctly on the website, but it was a lovely combination and on sale. They used to be phenomenally comfortable out of the box, but you've changed the hooks, the tongue, and the padding around the ankle, and it hurts my medial malleoli. With accommodation I can make the discomfort merely tolerable, but that's disappointing and I can no longer confidently order replacements online believing that I know what I'm getting.
