How to Set Up a Garmin LiveScope Ice Fishing Bundle

Live sonar fishing, like the Garmin LiveScope, has completely changed the way anglers approach ice fishing. With the best in technology, comes the challenge of setting it up correctly. Our Fishing Expert, Calvin, walks you through every step of how to set up your Garmin LiveScope for ice fishing—from unboxing to getting it safely packed in a shuttle bag.

Step 1: Unbox & Organize Components

As you remove items from each box, keep related hardware together. Pay attention to the following so you don't accidentally throw them away:

  1. When you remove the HD shuttle from its box, there is a small hardware box taped to the top. This has important mounting hardware for the black box and gimbal bracket.

  2. When you open the Garmin 93sv Display, there's a screen protector on top. Make sure to set this aside.

What’s Included in a Garmin LiveScope Ice Bundle

Before you start assembling anything, make sure you have all the key components:

  • HD Ice Shuttle

  • Shuttle mounting hardware

  • Garmin 93sv Display with gimbal bracket

  • GLS 10 LiveScope Black Box

  • LVS34 Ice Fishing Transducer

  • HD Ice Pole

  • Battery, charger, and power cables

  • Short Ethernet (network) cable

  • Shuttle bag (recommended for protection and transport)

Expert Tip | There are several extra cables and mounting parts designed for open-water or boat installs. Make sure to set them aside and store them in a safe place. You may want them later when summer comes around.

Step 2: Install the Pole Holder on the HD Shuttle

  • Open up the small box that came with the HD Shuttle.

  • Find the pole holder pieces and separate them.

  • Loosen the bolts on the pole holder using the largest Allen wrench included.

  • Slide each holder into the top bar of the HD shuttle.

  • Align them evenly and tighten carefully—do not overtighten, as this can crack the shuttle.

Step 3: Open the Shuttle & Mount the Black Box

Open the shuttle using the thumb screws and set them aside.

  • Find your GLS 10 LiveScope Black Box and take it out of the packaging.

  • Find 4 of the bolts, 4 nuts, and 4 of the small washers. You can choose to use the included wrench or a handheld power tool to speed up the process.

  • You'll use the four outside holes to mount the black box.

  • Starting with the top two holes, thread the bolts through the shuttle and the black box on each side.

  • Then, grab your two smaller washers and place those on each bolt.

  • Now, add a nut to each end and hand tighten.

  • Repeat the process with the two holes at the bottom.

  • Using the smaller Allen wrench and included small wrench, tighten each of these bolts. Avoid overtightening.

Step 4: Mount the Gimbal Bracket

  • Find your gimbal bracket and remove packaging.

  • Remove the quick-release plate from the gimbal bracket. Simply turn the knobs on each side to loosen. Set aside.

  • Position the bracket so the flat side faces forward.

  • There are several different holes to choose from. The farther forward you mount your bracket, the more room you'll have for cable management. If you're using a shuttle bag, you'll want to mount it slightly back. This ensures the shuttle will fit in the bag. Choose which set of holes works best for you and align the bracket.

  • Grab 4 more bolts, 4 of the bigger washers, and 4 of the nuts.

  • Place the bolt, then the washer, and then nut. Hand tighten. Repeat the process for the other three holes. Important: Place the bolts from the inside for the shuttle pointing upward. This is important so that the battery fits correctly.

  • Take your small Allen wrench and wrench to tighten each bolt, but don't over tighten!

Step 5: Install the Battery

  • Within your shuttle, loosen the battery strap fully.

  • Slide the battery into the molded compartment in the back of the shuttle. You'll feel it lock in place. When placing your battery in the shuttle, make sure the battery terminals face out and are to the side of the shuttle.

  • Connect the terminals: Black to black (negative) and red to red (positive).

  • Tighten the battery strap firmly so the battery cannot move.

Step 6: Modify & Install the Power Cable

Find the two-in-one power cable. It does require a small modification. On one side there will be connections that go to the screen (4-pin) and black box (2-pin). On the other side, there are four options, two of which we will not be needing.

  • Find the two featuring a butt connector (one red and one black).

  • Using a wire cutter or scissors, cut off the ends below the butt connectors.

  • Strip a short section of wire off on each side. Twist the wire so it goes into the connector very easily.

  • Grab the black wire first, open up the orange pedal on the black connector, put your wire in, and close it.

  • Repeat the same process with the red wire and red connector.

Last, feed both the two-pin and four-pin wires through the shuttle cable port. Close the shuttle and reinstall the two thumb screws. Grab the quick release bracket, place it on the mount, and tighten each side.

Step 7: Connect Power & Network Cables

  • Grab your 4-pin power cable. It will go into the red port, which will power the display.

  • Grab the 2-pin power cable. It will go into the marked port on the black box.

  • Find your short ethernet cable and take it out of the package.

  • The blue end goes into the smallest port of the black box.

  • The larger end goes into the biggest port on the display.

Tuck any excess cable back into the shuttle opening to keep everything clean and organized.

Step 8: Install the Display

  • Open the quick-release latch on the gimbal bracket.

  • Slide the display into place.

  • Lock it down.

Step 9: Install the LiveScope Transducer

  • Find your transducer and unpackage it. Uncoil the transducer cable to remove memory.

  • The last available port on the black box is where you'll plug the transducer into.

  • Wrap the cable neatly around the shuttle—tight enough to stay clean, but loose enough to carry comfortably.

Step 10: Mount the Transducer on the Ice Pole

  • Find the transducer pole and remove it from packaging.

  • It comes with attachments, which are for other sonar systems. You can take the pin out, remove and set them aside, and put the pin back in.

  • Find the bag of hardware that came with the transducer pole. Take out the knob for the Garmin unit and rubber washer (in the same package).

  • Put the rubber washer on the Garmin transducer knob.

  • Align the transducer so the cable faces the back and the transducer points forward.

  • Tread the knob through the transducer to connect it to the pole.

  • Tighten securely.

Wrap the cable around the shuttle, place the transducer pole into the pole holders, and collapse the tripod arms. If you want extra protection, secure the pole with the included safety strap. Finish by adding your screen cover!

Step 11: Load Everything Into the Shuttle Bag

Using a shuttle bag is highly recommended—it protects your investment from snow, slush, and rough transport. Before putting your set-up into the shuttle bag, you'll want to remove the pole from the mount.

  • First, slide the pole through the bag’s right side opening.

  • Zip the bag, leaving room for the transducer cable to move freely.

  • Place the shuttle inside the main compartment.

  • Secure it using the internal straps through the gimbal bracket.

  • Zip everything closed and install the screen cover.

Your Garmin LiveScope ice bundle is now fully assembled, protected, and ready to fish. Whether you’re hole-hopping or setting up for the day, this setup ensures clean cable management, secure mounting, and fast deployment on the ice.
