The night temperatures had been about 30 degrees, then suddenly dropped to 27. The nights were okay because I was in a warm sleeping bag, but mornings and evenings were so cold my hands hurt a lot. I remembered the Igniks. Got them out . Tried for a good half hour to figure out how to use them. NO instructions whatsoever! Very difficult to read package in poor light (white on orange.) They were so busy raving about their own product they forgot to include directions!! Nothing about shaking or crushing. Just \"your hand warmers must activate with oxygen for 10-15 minutes.\" Well, by now I was REALLY cold. It took 45 minutes for those things to warm up to anything useful. I am annoyed. I was going to take them back for a refund. But that takes time. My viewpoint might be different than other people's. I am an ex-ranger and always carry products for emergencies. I am thinking of people hurt, lying in the snow. Going into shock. Okay, just kiss your friends good-bye because these would not have helped. Maybe eventually. Yes, they would be fine for watching a football game or ice fishing. Perhaps if I had known that the old hand warmers I grew up with were toxic, I'd be more impressed. And here's another point: the package says outer materials are recyclable. What fantasy land are you living in? I have read over and over that in US only 10 % if rectclables actually get recycled.
