This hoody not only works as a bugstopper, as designed, it has a cool feel on the inside of the material while providing a bit of warmth on a cool day. I also think it is kind of stylish. I have purchaed 4 of them in different colors, with the blue being my favorite. And I have recommended it to a friend that hunts and also fishes with me and he owns one now. Love the product.
Excellent fishing shirt or even apres fishing wear. Right weight and breathability for cool and hot weather. Good layering piece to carry in your pack. My only request is a high or low side pocket next time. I own all three colors. Would like a light grey or grey camo.
Let’s be clear here...I bought not one but four of these SPF shirts at Scheels! Am a huge fan of the Simms brand of outdoor & fishing gear plus clothing. Living where we live in Texas, the biting bugs are an issue for me. These hooded shirts protect me as we walk the dog or work in the yard or even while just sitting on the patio. The shirts are light enough to wear in very hot weather and over another tee or workout shirt in cooler weather. Shirt dries quickly and is guaranteed bug resistant for a large number of washes. Best product of its kind out there.
Great piece of clothing for the fly fisher! Quality material and construction. Bought my first one and wore it once, bought a second one when I got home. Works in so many applications, bug stopper, sun shirt and can also be layered for cooler mornings. Getting up in years, it's nice to have the "runs large" sizing for extra comfort and versatility Been eyeing these for some time, finally pushed the "buy" button. Best spent money in a long time!
The blackflies are actively biting during the months of May and June. I have not had to wear bug spray this year while wearing the hoodie. The size was perfect. The Dark Moon color looks great with blue jeans. The quality is excellent. I ordered a second one in a different color. My wife ordered 2 also.
Superb hoody for hot sunny and buggy days. I didn't believe that these Bugstopper shirts could work better than deet, but I was wrong. You never have to reapply, it doesn't wash off in the water, and lasts for many washes. And deet is also poison, you shouldn't put it on your body. FYI, bugs will still land on you but they won't bite through the fabric.
I’m done with bugs and bug repellent. The hoody is part of my arsenal against these critters. I even use one for sleeping when the flying critters get inside my tent. Four weeks this year on floats in Alaska and I’m loving not having my arms, wrists and shoulders turned into hamburger.
I own 4 of these BugStopper shirts! I guide all summer and fall, and truly feel like I am not wearing anything. That is how comfortable this great Simms product is. Highly recommend this great product!
Put this shirt to the test in the most mosquito infested area I know of in Colorado. Thick enough to stop 99% of mosquitoes, and thin enough to keep you cool on a hot day (very breathable, I never got hot). I did end up with some bites around my shoulders, but considering I probably encountered over 1000 attacking bugs (no joke, I had to leave early last time since my thin long sleeve shirt was offering zero protection) I was happy with the end result. I also fell in the water at one point and it dried very quickly. 6' and 180lbs and the large fits very well (but definitely not loose).
I bought one at the outdoor pro shop in Cotati california, if you have never been their I highly reccomend. I love this pullover I seem to have it on 4 days a week especially golfing. Im ordering all the other colors. Good work Simms, as always.
The new Bugstopper Hoody is amazing. I just got back from a 3 day trip on the Green River in Utah and I wore the all three days. It was great at keeping the bugs off and great as protection from the sun. It breathes well, dries very quick and also didn't smell like I had worn it for three days. Great product!
Traveling to Cuba in June means lots of sun, a lot of heat and plenty of bugs! I purchased this shirt before the trip and at first sight it got my wife's approval and I was loving the pattern and feel of the fabric. On the flats boat is was a go to and I actually took off my fishing shirt and wore this the rest of the day after the sun came out and started to beat down on my neck. The feel of this shirt on the skin is like air conditioning and the hood is a great way to block off the extra UV rays. I found myself always keeping this shirt handy for evening bug defense and I will for sure be buying more colors! I have tried the other companies tropical hoodies and I think this one tops them all for comfort, fit and style! Great work Simms, would love to see a T shirt in the same fabric!
I didn't think this shirt would stand a chance against Alaska's state bird (the mosquito) - but it actually works! Got it last week, wore it all weekend on a camping/pack rafting trip and didn't get a single bug bite. This hoodie is also super comfortable and breathable, and quick drying. Perfect weight for Alaska summer weather. I think I'm going to buy three more of these ...
I purchased this hoody because it looked like a nice shirt for Summer lake fishing. We arrived at the lake in Wyoming last week and got out of the truck and I put this hoody on just in case there were a lot of mosquitos around... and, all of a sudden, there were a LOT of them! I just put up the hood and the bugs never landed on me. The fabric dries very quickly after releasing fish. I am going to purchase another one for yard work around the acreage just in case a bug shows up!
Did a great job keeping flying pests away while fishing in the Western Woods of Maine this June. Just the right weight to keep me comfortable at night and while fishing and very comfortable. This will definitely be worn when not fishing too.
