The DeHavilland Pant was created to eliminate bulk for more comfort during backcountry hunts. Watch the video to learn more about these innovative hunting pants.
Not all pants are created equal! Especially, when put to the test of backcountry hunting with a heavy pack. The De Havilland Pants are built with our innovative and patent-pending Contour Waist System that allows the user to adjust the waist size of the pants (up to 3") for an exact fit and make in-field adjustments for layering. As well, unlike other adjustable waist systems, the Contour Waist functions without the bunching of material at the hips which causes discomfort under the waist belt of a heavy pack. Add extra long side zips for venting in hot weather or high exertion situations, and a 4-way stretch, highly breathable and weather resistant textile and the De Havilland Pant quickly becomes a mountain hunters favorite. An athletic fit and articulated knees that are kneepad compatible are just icing on the cake.
Our innovative patent-pending Contour Waist System is designed specifically for increased comfort and performance when backpacking. Our goal was to eliminate bulk and allow an exact fit around the waist to reduce hot-spots on the hips as a result from miles hiked wearing a tightly cinched waist belt. By minimizing the materials needed for belt loops, removing snaps and buttons, and incorporating our micro-adjust zipper fly, the Contour Waist System provides unparalleled comfort and a 100% custom fit, unlike any other pant system.
The Stratum Layered Zipper System is an innovative feature found on all Stone Glacier pants and bottoms. This unique system allows the wearer to vent their layers all the way to the skin for unprecedented temperature regulation without requiring the repetitive addition and removal of layers throughout the day. Increase warmth by keeping all the zippers closed during extended glassing sessions and unzip to quickly ventilate and dump heat during periods of high exertion. No matter the situation, the Stratum Layered Zipper System makes temperature regulation easier than ever.
Like the namesake airplanes of these pants, they are tough, look cool, and get you in and out of tight spots. Unlike the planes, the pants let you cool of quickly when you get hot. The side zips are awesome. I like the adjustable zipper, and don't mind the buckle. I have worn these pants hiking, shed hunting, scouting, and turkey hunting, and love them. The cut/ fit is spot on. My favorite pants.
These are great pants. One drawback: the first time I wore them I got dirt in one of the front pockets. When I pulled the pocket inside out to shake the dirt out, it pulled some stitching loose on the Velcro fly. It seems part of the pocket shares stitching with that piece. Just don’t do what I did!
Overall a decent pair of pants but the Velcro/ zipper portion isn’t comfortable and makes the pants fit funny, Velcro is for toddlers ! Will not purchase again unless this ridiculous feature is corrected!
I love how you can use them anywhere. Warm enough for the cold with layers and use the side zips when it gets hot. A little loud, but personally, I can’t think of a time when this will work against you. Especially knowing the pants are bullet proof. Just a typical bad *** product from SG.
I love the pants, my wife calls them my space pants. THey are loud at first but I just wear them for everyday pants and they break in and are quieter for the woods. My only issue is that I am not skinny so the zfly pops open pretty often. The large is too large for my waist but too baggy in the legs for me. The medium fits my legs perfectly but is a bit snug on my waist. I am 6'1" and 205 pounds.
I tried these in a small since I'm a woman with a 27/28 inch waist. The waist was perfect and would fit someone a few inches bigger than me with the adjustability. Very cool feature to have! The fit throughout the hips was weird for me, and understandably so since they are cut for a man. I wore them around the house and out in the cold backyard briefly just to get a feel for them. They seem like they would be awesome on a mid to late season hunt. Ultimately made the decision to return based on the annoying fit. Not made for child bearing hips lol... I highly recommend these to all the guys out there though. My husband plans on getting a pair. Also, they are a fairly loud material so keep that in mind if you're a bow hunter. Still I have heard of guys successfully taking game with a bow in these. Overall, love the pants. Wish they were cut for me. Oh well!
Took these out on a 3 day camping trip in the snow and mud. Weather got down to 19 degrees with 20 - 25 mph winds and 5 inches of fresh snow but these pants combined with a base layer kept me warm and dry the whole time.
These pants are alright... Positives: They seem like they are well made, as in they are going to be super tough, like a tank tough! I don’t think your going to rip em, or wear them out. Negatives When wearing them they also feel like they are made that way, super tough and like wearing a tank for pants. Heavy than I like, crotch and zippers are bulky.
Was a bit skeptical when I pulled them out of the package. Thought they may be a little loud, but a trip in the field I don't think that's a worry. Like that the cargo pockets are on the thighs vice stuff banging on your knees. Seem pretty bomb proof as well, can't wait to put them through the paces this fall. Only con is they are a little long for my 30" inseam.
Great customer service. As a female walking into a dude store I felt like you guys weren’t judging me or looking down at me- Much appreciated. I got all of the information I needed to decide on the right pack for me. Will definitely do business with you all again. Thanks so much :)
I haven't gotten a chance to try these pants out yet as its the off season, but I am blown away by the quality, feel and fit of these pants. also just my experience dealing with stone glacier was excellent and it felt like there's actually a person standing by their brand and not just an empty bulls**t company like most. will 100% be buying more gear and supporting Stone Glacier!
The pants' workmanship is absolutely stunning! Their comfort is off the charts! I've used them once so I don't have much history with them, but they look like they can resist about anything! They are heavier than I expected, but for the resistance I expect out of them it serms 100% justified to me. They are more noisy than I expected, but then again, at -15 degrees C they don't get any more noisy then they already are. The original DWR from the manufacture can't be any better. Finally, they look awesome!!! Too bad the importation fees to Canada make their price unjustifiable, but then again I guess I won't be needing another pair for a long time! Undoubtably those pants will become my #1 piece of gear for all my outdoor expeditions!!!
Not field tested yet but fit and feel great. I’ve seen posts about the pants being noisy but just from walking around the house I can’t really tell any difference in these and any other hunting pant I’ve owned. Excited to try out this fall.
What I love about these are their versatility. I can wear them up to about 65 degrees and down into the 30's layered properly! The side vents make a huge difference, and the knee pads are super useful. I also like how high they ride on my waist, this keeps the draft out while I'm sitting. My favorite design aspect of these however is the waist. The adjustable waist really helps me use one pair of pants for many different temps/layers. This solves my problem of being between sizes with other hunting brands (32 is tight in Sitka, 34's have to be taken up in the waist with Kuiu). Love these, own both colors, and just purchased the LITE models as well. You won't be disappointed!
I've worn these several times out to the lake and river in light rain and snow since I've got them. Temperatures ranging from 40 to 28 degrees winds 10 to 25 mph with gusts of 45. Pants performed better than I expected and the quality of materials is top notch for sure a little louder than expected at first but break them in a bit and you'll be fine. The built in belt and side vents are definitely nice features to have. The fit was a little weird at first because of the adjustable velcro waistline but after about 10 minutes of playing around and wearing them around the house I quickly fell in love with them. Only thing I would maybe change/add is maybe a piece of velcro at the bottom to tighten up around the boots other than that pretty solid pair of pants that I would recommend to anyone who spends any length of time outdoors.
Stone glacier never disappoints. Put in 10 miles with a 50lb pack the first weekend I had the DeHavilland pants, and loved em. I like the adjustability of the waist, being able to dump heat with the zippers, and the material itself is comfortable and seems like it’ll hold up. Very happy with them so far
Awesome pants guys! Side ventilation zips work perfectly! Please do not follow through on the requests to add mesh to the side vent zips! There is nothing more annoying than having to pull your pants down to unzip base layers below during the middle of a hunt or backpack trip.
