A Guide to HEYDUDE Shoes

You might be asking yourself一what is HEYDUDE? Are HEYDUDEs slippers? Are HEYDUDEs shoes? In this guide to HEYDUDE, our Experts will answer all your questions including how to choose the correct size, how to tighten them, and how to clean your HEYDUDE shoes.

When HEYDUDE started in 2008, they had a mission to create a casual shoe that was more than a slipper but lighter and more breathable than a traditional shoe. This mission led to the HEYDUDE Wally—a comfortable slip-on shoe with elastic laces to allow you to get out and go. With the two most popular styles of HEYDUDE shoes being the Wally for men and Wendy for women, we'll make these a focus.

HEYDUDE Shoes Sizing

HEYDUDE shoes come in full sizes. We suggest that if you usually wear half sizes, choose the next size up for a comfortable and relaxed fit. But if you do enjoy a more snug feel, it’s important to know that the Wally and Wendy HEYDUDE styles are made out of woven cotton and will stretch out, meaning you may want to size down. The HEYDUDE width is a standard width with a rounded toe box to offer a little more wiggle room for your toes compared to a standard tennis shoe with a tapered toe box.

How to Tighten HEYDUDE Shoes

Although HEYDUDE shoes generally offer a more roomy toe box, they can be adjusted to fit narrow feet. To tighten them correctly, follow these three easy steps:

  1. Untie the knots on both sides of the shoe

  2. Pull the lace to the desired tension

  3. Tie a knot to prevent the lace from loosening

How to Clean HEYDUDE Shoes

The great thing about such a comfortable and versatile shoe is that you’ll want to wear them everywhere, but that does mean your HEYDUDEs will start to look dirty. These are our suggestions on how to clean your canvas shoes to maintain longevity:

  1. Remove all the surface dust or dirt. We suggest using a soft bristle brush.

  2. Remove all the laces and insoles. Laces may get tangled and memory foam insoles will ruin in the wash. To clean the laces and insoles of your shoes, you should wash them by hand with a shoe cleaner or detergent and leave them to dry flat.

  3. Use a small amount of liquid detergent because powdered detergent can cause damage to the material. We recommend you do not wash your shoes in the same load as clothes; however, you can put a few towels in to balance the load.

  4. Set the washer on a delicate cycle using only cold water to help preserve the longevity and prevent shrinking or warping.

  5. Do not use the dryer for your shoes. Putting shoes in the dryer may cause them to shrink or warp as well. Dry them outside or indoors, but remember to keep them out of direct sunlight to avoid bleaching or damaging the fabric.

Now that you know how to choose the correct size, how to tighten them correctly, and how to care for canvas shoes, you are ready to live the HEYDUDE lifestyle. Whether that means lounging around the lake or running errands, you’ll love the simplistic yet comfortable design of the HEYDUDE shoes.
