It does a good job of gripping the rifle and holding it in place. The major flaw with it however is the amount of play that is in the bushings that mount the jaws to the sliding rails. The jaws need to move back and forth on a rail to allow it to clamp different size stocks. Where the jaws slide the bushings are so much bigger than the rails that it allows the stock to move up and down vertically roughly 1/4 of an inch. With that much movement in the head, once out at a few hundred yards, that is feet that the rifle will move in comparison to the target. The whole point of the death grip is to hold the rifle steady on the target and when it has that much play in the mount, it defeats the purpose of using it. My buddy has an older head that I’ve used and it doesn’t seem to have this issue. Maybe this is specific to the ultra light heads or maybe quality control and just gone down. Overall unimpressed and won’t be using it for my daughter’s deer hunt. The rubber barely sticks out past the metal on the sides, if you have a stock that you're partial to and don't want it scratched, pass on this. It works well enough for my AR with its striaght sides handguard, but even tightened down as hard as I can get it the rubber allows quite a bit of wiggle.\nBOG must have fixed their issue of the arca not fitting because mine locks into my vortex tripod very tightly. Not worried about it coming out at all even w/ my 12 lb gun.
