I have never had problems with boot comfort from less expensive brands in the past and usually don’t notice my boots at all on my feet. I used to wear Keens and Vasque boots, but I would go through them in a year or year and a half so wanted to spend some more and get Crispi since I have heard good things. \n\nUnfortunately, I cannot get these boots comfortable for whatever reason. When I walked around the store I was excited because I felt like I was walking on a cloud. That didn’t translate in the field. The boots were extremely uncomfortable and put a lot of pressure on the balls of my feet. I eventually had to switch out the insoles and get super feet insoles to help with that problem. Even after 100 or more hiking miles, I am still getting blisters and hotspots as well. The boots fit me perfectly so I don’t think it is a matter of fit. I usually don’t blister at all so it is very unusual. \n\nThe boots are advertised as 100% waterproof. Also not true. The first thing I did when I got them is applied some Crispi waterproofing spray and let it cure. I then went on a turkey hunt and stepped in some puddles. Even with the waterproofing spray water was still getting in through the seams. That problem eventually has gotten better with additional applications of spray, but they are advertised as waterproof out of the box so be aware of that. \n\nI contacted Crispi about the problems mentioned above and they said there was nothing they could do about the comfort problems but offered to take a look at the boots for the waterproofing problem. Since that problem has improved I didn’t bother sending them back. \n\nThe boots are also advertised as breathable, which is not true in my experience. My feet get just as hot in them as any other boot and I feel like they are just as swampy as other boots. \n\nThere are a couple of great pros to these boots. The grip is phenomenal. I have never had boots that will take on loose dirt and slick terrain like these. Very satisfied with the grip. The build quality also feels very good. You can tell they use quality materials that can take a beating and will last. I wish they were more comfortable because I was really after a durable boot, which these are. \n\nI am overall disappointed in the Altitude GTX boots. I was bummed because I go through boots fast and wanted something that would be comfortable and last a few years. I feel like for the money I should have gotten a great pair of boots, but no.
