I wore it outside in 30 degree weather with a vest over it and it was warm but not bulky like a big coat. After a few washes it softened up a bit as it was a little stiff on first wear. A local store happened to have some in stock, which was perfect as I have found that Kuhl's sizing can be inconsistent across product lines. I found that the Thor is true to size, and ordered a few more from this site. I absolutely love these. They are now my favorite cold weather garment. They keep me warm when outside, even in under 20f conditions, yet I can wear them indoors and not overheat. They look great, too. Bet Kuhl scored big getting this in bulk. It works though; took it to Iraq in 2003 and 2005. It gets quite cold there and sometimes snows. Most of Kuhl's offerings run a size smaller; most likely due to South Asian manufacturing. XL is technically a L.
