I took a chance on the Epic based on free return. It will certainly not be returned because it has improved my game noticeably. I am not a skill player, being 72 years old, but can hold my own against much younger players. The first time I used this paddle some of the other players commented on my skill level, an illusion in my mind, but real in their observations !! The paddle is almost too fast, so I've learned to tone it down. I am playing indoors so edge wear is no issue, but as an engineer when I study the edge it seems like it will outwear the face. Also, Selkirk sells edge protection strips but seems like a waste unless playing outdoors on rough surface with aggressive play. Only one time did the ball hit the open space near the handle, but it likely would have been a bad hit anyways. I wear \"large\" size gloves and the handle size is perfect. The grip is slightly slick when really sweating, but not nearly as bad as a different new paddle, so I'll keep an eye on this and might buy an economical grip tape if it becomes an issue. On my other paddle I had to wear a weightlifting glove for grip.
