There is blow-back action, however, the ejection port isn't hollowed out. Additionally, the mag is not full-sized, but follows a rotary clip design, essentially doubling each magazine from eight to sixteen (you'll have to eject the mag, and flip 180 degrees to access the other eight). You can fire metal BBs or .177 pellets interchangeably according to the included instructions. All metal construction is a nice touch. White dot sights in the rear, and the option to fire double-action or single-action. I'd go for 5 stars, but I haven't had the opportunity to test target grouping as of yet. 4 stars out the box without any add-ons, or mods.
