As soon as I sent them pictures of the glinting on the blade they sent a replacement this was new out of the box. Dull blades new out of thr box is a big disappoint. Especially for the price. \n\nThe replacement cuts ok but my Booms nippers cut all tippet like hot knife on butter. I can hone those back to super sharp. \n\nThe threader is nice feature and have used it but think the Ninjia Pro may actually work better. Atleast Simms exposes the magnet which helps.\n\nTip, use a black magic marker to color the tag end. No matter what you product used as a theader ir tying a knot you can find the end.\n\nThe crimp device is useless until you are at a 4 or larger. I suggested that they make series of sizes for smaller such as #10.\n\nThe use of magnets is great feature but also a curse. What they do is ingest anything tool close by and now the ingested tool is between the blades. I put it on the before ever using it in the field and bingo. \nIf you put it in a pocket you can hit a sharp edge. Those are issues they can solve fir . 79 cents \n\nSolution is to use an O-ring to gently close the nippers and a lanyard that is made from line backing.\n\nNow you have a solid platform and the O-Ring does not interfere with the threadee. The clean out tool becomes a natural stop and does not impact the O-Ring. \n\nKey here is so the O-ring cannot be moved so they do not slip over the nippers end and not restrict the threaded. \n\nThe issue with dullness is due to design. They use a blade/anvil design vs 2 blades contacting each other. The anvil will by design cause the blade edge to roll over. One solution is to have blade meet blade and to have them protruding just forward of the the nippers body. Then make them flush grind for the exposed face. Then one can take a hone and touch up the blades and keep them sharper. Now you have gotten rid of a crushing cut. It's a great design but the blades are awful. They became pitted after only a month of fishing cutting nothing but 5X tippet.\n\nThe other reviews also note how bad the blades are. But after only TWO MONTHS of use, my nipper blades were completely pitted (see photo) I never used them to cut anything more substantial than 3X tippet.
