After the cast, I had to spin the handle very fast to get the reel to catch the line and start retrieving. Also, there was a loud scraping sound when reeling. I took the top cover off and saw that when turning the handle the inside reel would move upwards and scrape. It was definitely metal on metal. I returned the reel and was sent a new one. No more issues, but apparently these defects are very common based on reviews on other sites.
