Choosing a Scope Mount
Choosing a Scope Mount
Choose the Right Base & Ring System
- Match Firearm Specifications: Select bases that match your rifle’s specific make, model, and action length to ensure proper screw hole spacing.
- Select the Mount Type: Choose a two-piece Weaver setup for lightweight hunting builds, a continuous Picatinny rail for long-range rigidity, or a cantilever mount for AR platforms.
- Select Elevation Cant: Use a 0 MOA rail for standard distances, or opt for a 20 MOA rail when shooting long-range targets past 600 yards.
Fit the Mount to Your Optics
- Match Tube Diameter: Ensure ring sizes correspond directly to your scope's main tube, such as 1 in. for standard hunting, 30mm for modern setups, or 34mm for precision glass.
- Select Ring Height: Choose low or medium rings for objectives up to 50mm on bolt-action rifles, and high or extra-high rings for larger lenses or flat-top chassis systems.
