I opted for the 30\" barrels as I will use it for hunting as well as clays. What I love about this shotgun: This gun just drips quality. It looks fast just leaning in the corner. Once taken apart and reassembled with grease in all the right places, it operates so smoothly (don't forget to remove the ejectors and get a dab of grease under them). My gun weighs in at 3497 grams (7.71 pounds) and that weight is definitely welcomed on the clays course to soak up the 12 gauge recoil. I'm no newbie to shotgunning with a 12ga, but why beat yourself up with a lightweight 12ga when games are supposed to be fun. I also don't see an issue with this weight while walking the fields chasing pheasants. For multiple days, or long days, I have the 20ga which weighs in at 6.01 pounds. I will alter between the two.\nWhat I am not completely fond of with my particular gun: The fitment of the recoil pad to the stock leaves a little bit to be desired. The wood stands proud of the recoil pad. The recoil pad is also not on quite straight (but could be if a small amount of wood was removed from one side of the stock). all other wood to metal contact on the rest of the gun is perfect. Does this affect the shooting ability of the gun? Not at all, and this gun shoot beautifully. I feel that for $2750 with tax, a little more attention to detail would be welcomed. \nMy biggest regret with this purchase? Not getting one of these 20+ years ago. I am learning that the sooner you get what you want, the longer you have to enjoy it. Buy once, cry once definitely is applicable when it comes to fine shotguns. The 686 SP1 Sporting 12 falls into that category.","textLength":1767,"csFlag":false,"inappropriateFlag":false,"reviewedFlag":true,"autoModerated":true,"published":true,"incentivized":false,"upVotes":2,"downVotes":0,"orderId":null,"dimensions":[{"type":1,"dimensionId":3,"dimensionLabel":"Value","id":11,"code":"VAL05","label":null,"value":5},{"type":1,"dimensionId":4,"dimensionLabel":"Durability","id":16,"code":"DUR05","label":null,"value":5},{"type":1,"dimensionId":5,"dimensionLabel":"Quality","id":21,"code":"QUAL5","label":null,"value":5}],"responses":[],"tags":[],"media":{"photo":[],"video":[],"audio":[]},"user":{"nickName":null,"firstName":null,"lastName":null,"emailAddress":null,"externalId":null,"city":null,"state":null,"country":null,"ageRange":null,"badge":null,"shopperProfiles":[]},"reviewedDate":"2025-04-17T18:17:20-04:00","purchaseDate":null,"dateCreated":"2025-04-17T14:13:50-04:00","customData":[],"acceptedTermsAndConditions":true,"incentiveType":null,"campaign":null,"deviceFingerprint":null,"topics":[],"catalogItems":[{"sku":"1674-J686S1230","title":"Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon I Sporting 12 Gauge Over-Under Shotgun","url":"https://www.scheels.com/p/1674-J686S1230","category":"over-under-shotguns","reviewCount":2,"ratingCount":2,"averageRating":4.5,"ratingBreakdown":{"1":0,"2":0,"3":0,"4":1,"5":1},"active":true,"attributes":[]}]},{"id":6446724,"locale":"en_US","rating":4,"title":"SP1 Beretta","text":"Great weapon for sporting clays","textLength":31,"csFlag":false,"inappropriateFlag":false,"reviewedFlag":true,"autoModerated":true,"published":true,"incentivized":false,"upVotes":1,"downVotes":0,"orderId":"139061469","dimensions":[{"type":1,"dimensionId":3,"dimensionLabel":"Value","id":10,"code":"VAL04","label":null,"value":4},{"type":1,"dimensionId":4,"dimensionLabel":"Durability","id":16,"code":"DUR05","label":null,"value":5},{"type":1,"dimensionId":5,"dimensionLabel":"Quality","id":21,"code":"QUAL5","label":null,"value":5}],"responses":[],"tags":[],"media":{"photo":[],"video":[],"audio":[]},"user":{"nickName":null,"firstName":null,"lastName":null,"emailAddress":null,"externalId":null,"city":null,"state":null,"country":null,"ageRange":null,"badge":null,"shopperProfiles":[]},"reviewedDate":"2025-04-07T19:15:41-04:00","purchaseDate":"2025-03-29T00:00:00-04:00","dateCreated":"2025-04-05T23:35:17-04:00","customData":[],"acceptedTermsAndConditions":true,"incentiveType":null,"campaign":null,"deviceFingerprint":null,"topics":[],"catalogItems":[{"sku":"1674-J686S1230","title":"Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon I Sporting 12 Gauge Over-Under Shotgun","url":"https://www.scheels.com/p/1674-J686S1230","category":"over-under-shotguns","reviewCount":2,"ratingCount":2,"averageRating":4.5,"ratingBreakdown":{"1":0,"2":0,"3":0,"4":1,"5":1},"active":true,"attributes":[]}]}],"offset":0,"limit":10,"total":2,"gtin":"082442989778"}"Full Description:\nFor over 35 years, the Silver Pigeon has set the standard in the over-and-under crossover shotgun category, establishing itself as the epitome of excellence and reliability. This is Important for an enhanced, enjoyable shooting experience for novices, young shooters, and shooting schools providing lessons. For the first time, the richer and more distinctive floral engraving is featured on the receiver tail and is more intricately detailed on the hinge pins, covering all the metal surfaces seamlessly. The Silver Pigeon I incorporates the perfect ballistics of Beretta's highly reputed Steelium® Optimabore® HP barrels for dense, uniform patterns and low recoil and muzzle rise.<br />\n\nFeatures:\n\u003cul>\n\u003cli>Floral Laser-Engraving: The engravings are created using modern Beretta technology, namely a 5-axis laser capable of engraving rounded surfaces while maintaining perfect continuity in the design. The floral theme, created by Beretta's Master Engravers, now seamlessly covers the metal surfaces, extends for the first time to the receiver tail, and embellishes the hinge pins. The background with micro-lines improves the depth of the scene.\u003c/li>\n\u003cli>Steelium & OPTIMABORE HP Chokes: The ingredients for the stunning performance of the Beretta Steelium® barrels are the exclusive tri-alloy Beretta steel (Ni, Cr, Mo), the deep drilling, the cold hammer forging, and the vacuum distension. The 686 Silver Pigeon I Steelium® barrels have a double forcing cone reaching up to 80mm (in a 76 cm barrel). The inner profile of the Optimabore® HP barrels has been designed and tested to provide perfect accuracy with every type of shell: lead, steel, and high-performance steel. This results in perfect patterns with every shot.\u003c/li>\n\u003cli>Elegantly Figured European Walnut: The stock is now available with a higher 35/55 drop to enhance handling and shooting experience in both a right- and left-handed version.
