I first purchased this from my local Trek store, got a few months use out of it before it started locking up, and feeling like metal grinding while using it. lots of friction and very little air going into my tires. I took it to the shop and they, like another review on here honored the replacement, but the new one only was good for about a few months and just started doing the same thing. I took it to my local TREK dealer and they honored the replacement, but the new one only was good for about six or so tire inflations until it did the exact same thing! Super frustrating waste of time. The product looks nice, but apparently isn't designed well or doesn't have good parts on the inside. I noticed that Bontrager pumps were previously made in Taiwan, but now this model is manufactured in China. Now the nozzle is leaking air as I try to pump. If I go hard and fast I can get up to 100lbs but air is leaking big time. Had hoped to replace the nozzle, part 1702, but apparently parts aren't available. Apparently the durability is only an appearance. For the year that it did work, it was excellent. However guage stopped working and it's useless unless for a bike where pressure matters. It worked fine until one day the pressure gauge stopped working. I contacted Trek to see if they sell a replacement gauge. They do not have stock of the item. Trek did offer me a 20% discount code to buy another pump. The pump still pumps air so I am not sure if I just want to buy a separate gauge and still use the pump. The hassle with that is I have to guess when I reached the pressure desired, release the pump from the valve to check the pressure again and either release some pressure or reattach the pump and add pressure. I have both Presta and Schrader stem bikes, so I selected this pump for obvious reasons. It worked great for about 2.5 years. Schrader stems can no longer be filled. Works great as long as the grommet isn't worn out which happens in less than 2 years. That would all be fine if I could buy a new grommet. Heck I would buy 2-3 to have on hand because I like the pump just not the fact I can't fix it.
