Built in gator felt good, but the top of the heel counter was very stiff and caused blisters within the first 3 miles. Tried them again with thicker socks and same issue. I decided to go a full size up but they ended up slightly too big, and caused my heel to blister pretty badly. I’ve been using them on my after work 6 - 8 mile runs and bought a new pair for long weekend trainers. The only other shoe I like as well as this one is the La Sportiva Prodigio Pro but I feel like this shoe has a bit more pop. The lugs aren't super deep but I've had no trouble with traction. The wear is good and I personally have not had any hot spots or pain. It's also a killer looking shoe. If they come out with a new colorway I'll have to pick up another pair. I wish other reviews would leave out personal issues like a small rub. Everyone has different feet so don't assume a hot spot for one person will mean one for you. I own 5 pair of different Nordas and I enjoy these more. Since I have purchased the Cascadia and my experience with them, I have purchased 4 pair of Brooks Ghost SE in different colors, the Run Disney Chip and Dale ghost version, and now have my wife into Brooks as well with the leopard spotted look. Loving Brooks! Best supportive and stable shoe out there in my opinion. I have had recent toe surgery (bone spurs and arthritis and lost cartilage, and tons of knee, ankle and back issues) and the Brooks line give me the toe box room I need, and the support and stability and comfort to log the miles walking and running without the usual pain and wear and tear. I am a mid to front foot walker and runner and have trouble finding enough mid to forefoot support and stability and cushion. Brooks has nailed it! Brooks has done much to elevate their line and look and tech and we can't get enough! Congrats Brooks!!!! The length feels a bit short to me for a US12, but by swapping the insoles for thinner ones, I was able to avoid hitting my toes. I would want a US12.5 for longer runs or races.\n\nThe underfoot feel is fantastic, the upper fits well, and the outsole has pretty good traction. I was surprised at how poor the traction was on wet rocks compared to Vibram outsoles. Perhaps it just needs a few runs to break in.\n\nMy major concern is that after this one short run, the right toe bumper is already delaminating. Given the purpose and cost of this shoe, I am really surprised at this problem. The upper is a dream, and fit is nice and race tight as it should be. The midsole strikes a decent balance of softness and bounce. The plate shape gives that nice stability the inspires confidence. My issue was with the heel collar.
