{"reviews":[{"id":8171918,"locale":"en_US","rating":4,"title":"Well made and could be even better!","text":"I was not too accurate with this blowgun right from the box so I made two additions to it which increased my accuracy. First, I added a magnet with friction tape to keep metal shafted darts from slipping out of the tube if the blowgun is pointed downward. Experimentation showed that adding the magnet at the wrong place, like on top of the blowgun, reduces accuracy but the magnet seems to enhance accuracy for me if is placed correctly. Best placement is under the mouthpiece and very close to the blowing tip of the mouthpiece so the dart is held by magnetic force to its metal shaft close to its plastic cone. Second, I got some plastic plumbing parts, a \"T\" with three openings with inside diameter very slightly larger than the outside diameter of the blowgun. The bottom part of the \"T\" points downward under the blowgun and I added another short pipe fitting over the bottom of the \"T\" to make a longer pistol type grip handle that I can grip with all fingers, all secured with friction tape to make an immobile pistol grip at a comfortable distance from the mouthpiece that I can hold to aim the blowgun. This way I can hold the blowgun more steadily and darts stay by the mouthpiece with the aid of the magnet assuring full dart travel length inside the tube and hence full power when I exhale into the mouthpiece. So my recommendations for enhancing a good Cold Steel blowgun are to add a magnet to the mouthpiece very close to the blowing end with instruction to orient the blowgun so the magnet is at the bottom and to add a pistol grip that can also fit under the blowgun and that can be moved to a comfortable arms length holding distance and then tightened, probably with a hex key to become immobile along the tube. I can hit a bullseye on a dart board from twenty paces. I’m 6’3 and it works fine as a walking stick. I still haven’t hunted with it, but it’s great to have around. A little practice with your technique and you can shoot through a plastic garbage can. I love this thing. And the machining on the threads is ridiculous. I had a feral cat coming around and it was tearing up my cat and trying to get after my dog. Before you judge me just know I live in a part of the country where it’s legal to defend your property against such menaces. It did not bring me pleasure, but I needed a solution that was silent. A suppressor on a rifle or firearm is much louder plus there is a significant safety issue when in rule residential or residential. So for me that was not an option. I tried trapping said ca with no luck. After the second trip to the vet for my indoor outdoor cat I decided enough was enough. I practiced repeatedly in my garage with my old dartboard. It was on my lungs didn’t have the power, but after a little bit of practicing started off the smaller part and worked my way up to the 5 foot complete blowgun now I can kill with it if i wanted to. It is a great silent killer, No one even knows you’re there. I mean, you can do a lot of damage with this thing and nobody would even see it coming. This 5’ model averages 126 fps with the Cold Steel Mini Broadhead (10 fps more than either of the Cold Steel 4’ models which both average 116 fps). This is a great quality choice for all-around plinking and hunting (where allowed). While I do prefer the broader mouthpiece of the 4’ Professional blowgun, this standard mouthpiece is certainly acceptable.
