Muskrats are creatures of habit. For effective trapping, place your traps directly in their daily travel routes. Look for these three hot spots:
- Underwater Runs: Look for clear, distinct underwater ditches or paths in the mud leading away from the bank, a lodge, or a bank den. Muskrats use these like highways.
- Den Entrances: Locate the underwater holes leading into their bank dens. Placing a trap directly in front of this hole is incredibly effective.
- Narrow Channels: Look for natural pinch-points in the marsh, such as narrow streams, culverts, or openings in thick vegetation where muskrats are forced to swim.
A #220 trap is recommended for a large raccoon.
Yes, the Duke #110 Body Grip Trap is effective for squirrels.
