(Because it could) We have an equipment allowance annually that allows the purchase of some pretty bougie stuff… I have some really expensive knives but I continue to carry kershaw knives every day. This knife is amazing! Look… the main complaints for this knife are (and I have a rebuttal for each)\n1: the handle is slick! \nIt is metal but… unless the handle is made out of sandpaper… if your hands are wet/covered in blood/etc. EVERYTHING is slick!! This is an everyday tool! Not an every situation tool! \n\n2: The pocket clip is weak\nFALSE!!!! I own knives that cost north of 400$… brand name starts with a b and ends with a enchmade and they have actually stopped sending me clips. I’ve broken so many that the last defect request… they sent me like 3… and told me that was it! No kidding! This clip is strong… beefier… and holds well! I typically have to remove clips and bend them so they hold better… not the case with this one!\n\n3: Screws back out! Ok… every knife I buy… I disassemble, sharpen, oil, and put thread locker on EVERY screw… ESPECIALLY the pocket clip screws! I can see buying something and expecting it to perform flawlessly right out of the box but… that rarely happens! I leave nothing to chance and in my opinion… that’s operator error! Take a terrific starting point… and dial it in a bit and you won’t have any issues in the future! This knife is amazing and when I find something I like/that works… I acquire several out of fear of it being discontinued or broken! After receiving my first purchase of this knife… I bought two more to have in the bullpen! They all have been sharpened, oiled, and the screws have thread locker on them! I’ve had zero issues with this knife and if all three broke today… I’d order three more! I do wish it was made in the USA but in the end… it isn’t and that’s showbiz baby! I worked on a knife for a friend today… brand name started with a B and ended with a enchmade and I almost got physically ill! It was big, heavy, and the blade wouldn’t hold an edge for anything! I picked the Grid and I am very happy with it.\n\nThe Grid is a similar weight and feel to the Volt (maybe a little heavier, with a very sturdy feel). In fact it feels like a hybrid between the size and weight of the Volt and the blade shape of the Leek (another of my favorites). It's slim when folded and carries nicely in the pocket. Easy to open and close. Very sharp out of the box. I haven't used it enough yet to see how it holds an edge but Kershaws are typically good blades.\n\nSome say that the scales are smooth and may be slippery when wet. This is true to a degree, but this is not really intended to be a survival knife (though I think it could tackle the role in a pinch). Hopefully you are not in a job where your hands are frequently wet, in which case you should look for a different style.\n\nSome say the screws tend to back out. I haven't had it long enough to see that yet but I will keep an eye on them.\n\nOverall, it's a solid knife that carries well and looks great. I’ve split kindling on numerous occasions with a rock or a heavy branch and it’s held up with no issues, the frame lock is strong as hell. Pocket clip came loose once and I put some lock tight on the bolts and it hasn’t been a problem since. Can’t beat the price point either. Size is great. Blade stays sharp. I have had the knife for 2 years. Works great, but has a few issues. 1. The handle is slick. No real texture or grip. If your hands get wet or slick you could loss control of the knife. 2. The most important one. The screws. I have lost at least 3 screws out of the handle. They come loss easly. Dont know if its lack of lock tight or something with the milling. Im still missing 2 screws to this day and put lock tight on all the others on the knife. Would love to see Kershaw add a fix to this. 3. My only other small complaint. I was so use to the leak and the placement of the pocket clip I still get twisted when pulling the knife out of my pocket and having to turn the knife in my hand before opening. With the leak clip the orientation of the knife in my pocket is perfect with no changes to open compared to the grid. Still and awesome pocket knife.
