Overall checks all boxes for the outdoorsman or PRS shooter. Great clarity and very responsive makes this a very nice scope across the board. Really no negatives to be found, perfect price point and 7-10 ounces lighter than similar scopes.
This optic is amazing. The clarity of the glass is phenomenal. I was a little worried about the Tremor 3 being too busy, but it's not, and the brightness of the lenses were great. This is mounted on a Tikka 6.5cm and it works flawlessly. The turrets are tactile and easy to use and I love the zero stop on the elevation. It was quick to zero, and once done it was easy to rotate the turrets to zero and reset. The weight of the scope was also a plus, as it's much lighter than older versions. Even my teenage son commented on how light it was. Two trips in, I couldn't be happier with the MK5 and would recommend it to any buyer looking for a long range scope. I think Leupold has really outdone themselves for a consumer friendly optic at a reasonable price!
This is a great scope, the clarity of the entire field of view is incredible at any magnification. A scope of this class and price should have decent covers to protect the glass. The cheap plastic ones that come with the scope are not LEUPOLD quality, I'm embarrassed for you to include them with the scope, that's why only four stars. I see you offer LEUPOLD quality aluminum flip up covers for a steep price. I feel the aluminum covers should have been included with the purchase of the scope.
I love this optic! So far, i've had it on my savage mkii fvsr (22lr), just to familiarize myself with making scope adjustments, and it has been great. I am new to long range precision, so i wanted to familiarize myself at 5 cents per round, rather than $2... The clarity is incredible and the adjustments are spot on. I zeroed at 25 yards, shot 100 yards to verify my windage, then dialed 40MOA and made a first round hit on my full size ipsc steel target. After several other hits at 300 yards, i zeroed out the elevation, and held 40MOA with the reticle and made multiple hits to finish out. I have plans to put this on a ruger precision rifle in 300PRC, after more trigger time on other rifles that i currently own.
I have this on my Tikka T3x TAC, mounted with Barrett ExRing mounts. This Scope is awesome, light weight, clarity, even low light conditions are a breeze, on full zoom the scope with a little adjustment is crystal clear. Easy to zero your windage and elevation. I would thoroughly recommend this product, if I had to buy again I would. Why would you choose other brands when you have a lifetime warranty. Quality all the way.
I purchased this item to be used for both hunting and target shooting. While I haven't had the chance to use it for hunting it is a very impressive scope nonetheless. The clarity of the glass is superb and the contrast and definition down range leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. I don't believe that there's a better scope out there in nearly the same price range.
I bought my 1st Leupold scope in 1970. Water proof. Lifetime guarantee. I have never needed to use either. We have put these scopes through rain, fog and snow in multiple states for the last 50 years with no issues. They are dependable beyond compare and they just keep getting better. The new CDS dials are awesome.
This is actually my second review. I just placed an order for my 3rd Mark 5HD. I absolutely cannot say enough about this scope. Each time I sell one of my scopes (S&B, NF, VT) without naming them, I purchase a Mark 5HD. Between traveling North America Guiding and PRS matches, this optic just surprises me every time. Unless you've sat behind them and compared the Mark 5 to "almost" every other optic between $2-3k, it's hard to believe. Some almost laugh at how I could sell my others and or even compare the Mark 5 to them. I was beyond skeptical with my first purchase. It has been years since an optic company has came out with something new that has well exceeded my expectations. The glass is beyond exceptional. The turret and design is perfect. The fact that is FFP at that price especially compared to any other FFP out there in this category. Each time we have a match, I mention randomly what I have on my 6.5 PRC. It draws a lot of attention. Everyone leaves in awe at how it stacks up to the others on the range. Most leaving with "thats unreal." Several of our hunting client that come out that gets behind the Mark 5HD ends up using our rifle instead of their own they brought for the hunt. At low light, the 5HD shines. And I think any or the 5HD's are that way. I believe the real difference in the Mark 5HD vs VX 5HD is the FFP and the guts being more robust along with a 35mm tube. I currently own 2 VX 5HDs as well and I'm just so amazed each time I get behind one. In my honesty option based off my real world experience, there isn't an Optic out there under $3k that touches the Mark 5HD. Way to go Leupold. Way out of the park with this one!!
I have had the opportunity to use and shoot with some of the best optics out there. This scope is second to none! Leupold has hit a home run with the Mark 5 HD. Outstanding edge to edge clarity. Great magnification range. First focal, and the Reticle selection is great. I will be purchasing another in the near future. Thank you Leupold for the great product, it will be a workhorse for years to come.
I've owned a Mark 5HD for a year now. Just remarkable. Clear. Light. Tuff. Works perfectly every time. I've always purchased high end optics....admittedly other brands at this price point. No longer is that the case. This scope fits the bill in every category and the weight savings on my carbon build is perfect. Im getting my second one. The zero stop is excellent!
I am a professional shooter and sniper instructor. As many of us with grey hair, we grew up using Leupold M4 scopes. Then moved to the european optics such as Swarovsky X5 and S&B PMII which are the reference in hunting and sniping. Leupold was a little behind them but it has come back with renewed strength. If you are looking for a US made sniper scope don't forget taking a close look to the new Mark5HD line as it is really performing and has some of the features the others are lacking. Specially important if their impressive 30Mrads elevation which allows most shooters to shoot as far as their bullets will fly supersonic, without limitation.
