I not only grip them well but it also serves to keep my land from slipping towards the muzzle. On one weapon I have the grip mounted on the left side, one slot up from the bottom center. This allows me some leverage I need because of a badly torn rotator cuff. It is difficult to extend my left hand to support a rifle barrel yet on the same hand I can reach out and pull the grip towards me from that slight angle pulling the weapon into me giving an interesting control.
