After talking with several hunting buddies that spend many hours in the field, often hunting in rugged terrain, they recommended I check out Crispi boots. Initially I tried the Crispi Colorado which is a superb boot but that boot style just didn’t seem to provide the right fit for my foot. I then checked out the Briksdal Mountain GTX and almost instantly knew they were the right boot for me. I’ve now worn these boots on several hunts in a variety of terrains and absolutely love them. I’ve waded through streams, walked in wet snow, and the boots provided excellent traction and kept my feet dry and warm. My next test of these boots was a late season archery hunt which took me across basalt strewn rocks and then up and down muddy game trails. Once again these boots shined and provided exceptional traction and show cased the benefits of the ankle support system. Despite walking over miles of territory with sharp edged basalt rocks the boots still look new giving me confidence they are built to last under use in demanding conditions. I’ll end this review by sharing my two favorite things about these boots: traction on slippery surfaces is unreal….almost like having your feet glued to the terrain, and the ankle support system…..Cristi’s ankle support system is both comfortable and provides me the confidence needed to know that I can tackle rugged terrain without worrying about twisting an ankle. I wore these boots for a total of 4 days and everything started to fall apart. Additionally, fox tails get jammed into the front part of the boot due to its design. They are extremely comfortable but not worth the money until the issues become fixed. The good: Nice looking boot, immediately comfortable, good ankle support, just the right amount of flex for my liking, virtually no break-in period! Cons: lacing through the loops on the side at the “ankle lock” is a terrible design just about impossible to lace in the dark at 3 am during a hunt, the insoles as usual from any factory are useless, lastly, after a couple weekends wearing them prior to hunting season, a multiple day elk hunt, and a few days deer hunting, the rubber rand started pealing from the sides in multiple places. I contacted Crispi, started a warranty claim, they handled it right away, I shipped them to Crispi, and had replacements back in a week. Then I tightened the laces at the toe of the boot and magic! The most comfortable boots ever.
