One of the top performing set of boots ever owned in my life. Easy on, easy off and the craftsmanship is terrific. I'm wearing them right now and in Chicago we just received 3 1/2 inches of rain therefore the mud and water was no problem and clean up was a breeze. Yeah, there's no reason to think about it any more, this is the one
I am a police officer. Overall it’s a good boot. I heard a lot of good things about the brand so I had high expectations. But once I got it and tried it on, I didn’t really like it. I didn’t have to break it in. I wear it everyday and was expecting it being lighter. Also idk if it’s because I got the waterproof one but it feels a lil stiff specially when running. I wouldn’t buying it again.
The zipper sure makes it easier for an old man to get his boots on and off. I was a little worried if it would stay put but it has so far. Sure wish there were half sizes in all the larger sizes. I think I could use a 12.5 instead of a 13
I really like these boots. The leather/mesh uppers are very comfortable and move well when I walk. I really like the look of them; just as good looking as the online pictures. I have three minor complaints however; nothing so serious as to warrant a star rating less than four stars, but enough for me to not give a five star.
The shoes do squeak from the uppers when I walk a bit. They feel good, but they’re a bit noisy. Maybe this will go away as they are more broken in. I hope so. But for now that’s a little bit annoying. Secondly, the one pull on the shoelaces to tighten all of the laces hasn’t held true for me. It tightens the top two laces but not the rest of the laces. And third, and probably my biggest complaint: the insole feels pretty cheap and flimsy. I guess when I spend over $100 on shoes or boots I expect a better than a thin, flimsy insole. I saw that they’re selling better insoles on the website. Why not include them from the get go when you’re not selling a cheap boot? If the boots were $50, I wouldn’t complain about that; but they’re not.
Despite my complaints I do still like the boots. I could just do without the squeaking, would love if the one pull on the laces tightened all the laces as advertised and had a better insole out of the box.
I have a pair of the Scorch 6" I wear for a footbeat that I love. Come wintertime and the damp weather I tried these "dry" 8" - very impressed. Minimal break-in time, which is amazing for my bony heels. Much warmer - in fact, I don't think I'd wear them in the summer. They definitely fit snugger due to the padding and keep the dampness out better than my "hot" 6". Think of the "hot" and "dry" versions like two different boots entirely. They're both light but the dry is definitely more substantial.
This is my second pair of Danner boots. I was very excited to receive this pair. They looked great and are comfortable. I had to get a half size smaller from my other Danner boots. What I didn't like on these boots, is they formed a crease on the back portion by the heel after wearing them the 3rd day. It made it very uncomfortable to wear, I believe the cause is the side zipper.
They are very comfortable and lightweight. The only reason for 4 stars is when they are laced up as snug as I prefer, I am unable to get my foot back into them using only the side zip feature. Otherwise, a good set of boots so far.
One boot zipper did unzip by itself, which I did not notice until returning to the station after a day of training. Otherwise after a week of use I have not noted any other deficiencies. Maybe a magnetic latching stap to cover the zipper in the future...
This is my third pair to own and they are great. They have been hard to find in stores though. That is why I ordered direct. Found first pair at Cabelas and never again. They said you didn’t make them any more. Thank you for still making them! Richard
Love Danner products, my work (police), military and work around the house boots are all Danner’s, 6 total pairs. That being said, fit and comfort are awesome, just a few instances where the side zippers have opened themselves. Never had this happen with my last pair so hoping these few occurrences are isolated.
