So close to being a 5 Star boot, the only thing missing is the finger loop at the top of the boot. The whole point of having a zipper boot is to be able to take it off and on with easy. Will without that finger loop, it's a pain in the rear. Besides that....I love the boot. Feels great!
This is my first pair of Danner boots, I’m a Corrections Officer. So a good pair a boots means a lot in my field of work. Because my day can be 8 or 16 hour days standing on my feet through out the day and doing rounds.
That being said this boot at first obviously hurts a little because it’s not broken in yet. It took me about week to truly break them in all the way. The boot fits true to size. It’s a comfortable boot specially if you’re flat footed like me. I would say get this one specially. Also it’s very light on the foot once broken in. I thought it would be a heavy boot and it’s really not.
Got these boots 13 months ago. I work at a busy fire station and the toes of these boots haven’t held up. The rubber outsole where it’s glued against the toe is peeling away pretty significantly on my left boot and the right boot is beginning to peel away as well. I have some boot glue that I’m hoping will do the trick but ordered a pair of Acadias to transition into. These boots may work well for cops, but I think the constant contact with the back bumper step on the squad or constant contact with the cot rack may have caused increased wear. Anyways, great boot just wish the toe was glued better.
My husband loves these boots. They are taller than the norm and really support his ankles. He broke his leg a while back, right above the ankle, and needs good support for that injury. He put these on and has not looked back. Thank you for a great product. This is his second pair and second style. Your staff was very helpful in selecting a boot that is great!
These boots run true to their size, I haven’t ever had issues with danner sizing. The striker Bolt side zip have exceeded my expectations and have held up nicely. Prior to these I had ordered just the regular striker bolt without the side zip. The regular ones have different eyelets for the laces and they are horrible. I went through two pairs of them in about four months. The eyelets on the regular Striker Bolts don’t go through the leather so twice the plastic eyelet broke and then I couldn’t lace the boots up anymore. When the eyelets broke I had only worn them for about a month. After I went through my second pair I ordered the striker bolt side zips and they have held up way better. For one they have eyelets that go through the leather and are different than the ones on the regular striker bolts. So there’s no way they can break. Something to think about when looking at these boots. The vibram sole has held up and provides excellent traction on dirt, mud, gravel, sand but will get a little slippery when they get wet and you walk on tile or into an office than has vinyl floors etc. the boots are water proof until the water gets near the laces. They do breath well and take very little time to break in. I would definitely purchase these again. And shout out to danner customer service for helping me get the right boot when the others broke.
Great boot. In my opinion the striker line up is the most comfortable boot made by Danner from the moment you put it on. Danner by the way has proven to be the best boot company out there from my varied experiences.
After much research I bought these for my boyfriend to wear to work. He loves them- his feet have been bothering him less at the end of a long work day and reports they are lightweight while also supportive. The rubber coated zipper makes getting them on and off easier.
The boot itself is nice. The problem I had with these boots are the thick upper padding. The boot feels like it would be good for the winter months and I couldn't imagine the sweating that would occur wearing them in the summer. I tuck my bottoms into the upper portion of the boot as I run K-9. As soon as I sat down in the patrol car pant legs pulled out due to the excessive padding and inability to tighten the upper portion of the boot. I sent them back. The only reason I tried these out is because the GTX's we're discontinued. I found a third party sight that still had the GTX's and ordered them. The last pair I had lasted almost three years and they are perfect. Not sure why Danner would have discontinued making them as they had awesome reviews and so far have been the most comfortable pair of boots made by Danner that I have worn.
I only have one complaint and it's the reason for for stars and not five. There is no loop to get a decent hold on the boot whole putting them on. As for comfort, amazing! Feet don't get too hot or too cold. They broke in rather quickly. About 100hrs. I work 10hr shifts so this was about two weeks of work in Patrol. I never got a blister or hot spots. The tread gives really good grip and shock absorbing. I highly recommend these boots.
Tough! Will Last Forever. Need Long Break In and Insoles
I am giving these boots a 4 because they are extremely high quality but read the review... I have mixed feelings on these boots. I purchased the Scorch version for summer and was very impressed except the sides tore out within 5 months. I just purchased the scorch because they were a huge upgrade and looked to be more rugged. These boots are RUGGED and TOUGH. They will stand up to whatever you throw at them. However, they run slim, and small compared to my scorch version and compared to other brands you should go up a half size if you can. I was not happy with the comfort of the boots so insoles were purchased. I purchased the fatigue fighter footbed from danner. Since I did not upgrade my size I had limited space for the insoles causing the boot to be very tight. I will be purchasing the leather conditioner as well to see if that helps with the hard leather issue. I have had these around 30 days and feel they have not broken in. They are used for 12 hours at a time 3-4 days a week. Lastly, I required a side zip but did not want the 8" version. They are too high. Danner should make this boot in a 6" side zip option. That will also help with comfort as not everyone requires boots high enough for the jungle. I feel I will make these boots work but if i were to do this over I would have purchased the scorch again and then went with the waterproof version since they come in 6" side zip. Even though they are a downgrade I was happy with the comfort of the scorch vs this boot.
I have been wearing these boots for about a month now. I wear them around 8 hours a day in an airport setting. Very comfortable from day one. I ordered a half-size larger than my typical shoe size. Look great.
I took off one star because the “rubberized leather toe” seems to be very soft and gets cut/nicked very easily in what I consider a fairly mild work environment. If I bump the toe against a piece of machinery, it usually leaves a small ding in the toe.
I have to polish these boots 2-3 times a week to blend out the scuffs. I have noticed as they have broken in, there are very few smooth patches of leather other than the toe cap. Similar to how well-worn dress shoes look. I think I was expecting something stiffer and more robust, but then the boots probably would not be as comfortable to wear.
Overall, seem to be very good boots, but I will probably try an more traditional military style for my next pair.
Delivery driver (I wear brown). Wore these boots today for only the second time since purchase. Comfortable, no hot spots, great traction in the wet. Feet feel great, as do my ankles, so the support is good too! Only dropped stars because these boots could use a pull tab at the back of the cuff, and because I still have to unlace as well as unzip to get into and out of them. Considering adding a front zipper. Regardless, I like these boots a lot. Heading into Peak Season, I hope they hold up to the weather and the use, will check in in the spring with the result.
