The lighter colors do look great at first glance, but I did notice something that I have never seen with the darkest version of this sock which I now can't stop noticing after wearing them.\n\nThe lighter colors makes the thread connections of the blue colored sections much more noticeable (bottom of the sock; more visible in the heel and toe). In my case, it makes the wear and tear around the threading much more visible over the darkest version of the sock which I've worn much more and longer and have washed multiple times.\n\nThis is probably just a visual concern due to the lighter colors being more visible, and the durability is likely just as good as any other colors so I don't think it's justifiable to reduce a star in the rating for that since my boots see it more than I do.\n\nThat being said, if you are someone who doesn't mind seeing more imperfections or wear and tear due to the color choices, then this new version is currently the lightest color and still an excellent pair that lives up to the Darn Tough name.\n\nA perfect version of this sock for me would be to make it look closer to the design of the darkest (emphasis on darkest) version. I wish the heel just had the darker blue (not lighter blue surrounding it) and had the light grey base color replacing all light blue on the bottom up to the toe section where the dark blue would be the only color as well. That is just a personal preference though as I find this sock to be a little busy visually with the current colors, but it's been a great pair of socks other than that.\n\nI love the Darn Tough brand because their socks are just the best ever made, especially when paired with a lifetime warranty, and this new color variant is no exception.
