This boot does a tremendous job protecting my ankles from rolling when I get in and out of the truck making deliveries... Also keeps my feet dry in adverse conditions.. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because my previous two Targhee III boots sole started to come loose after only a couple months.. Try and super glue, but only lasts a couple days
I was looking for a comfortable shoe to wear on a retail floor for long hours that was also waterproof and warm. I’ve been wearing these daily for several months now with no aches or pains and kept my feet warm and dry even traveling to and from work on 2 wheels through a MD winter. As far as product quality they’re standing up to all the punishment I put them through without seeing a single flaw. They do require as with any real quality boot a little break in time so be patient it will be worth it.
I usually wear size 16. My previous order of Ridgeline Flex in size 16 ran both a bit short and a bit wide. I sent the boots back and ordered the EXP Targhee boot in size 17. Not only did the EXP boots provide adequate length, but they also ran narrower than the size 16 Ridgeline. I'm glad Keen provides a narrower alternative for its hiking boots
I wear these every day to work I’m on my feet all day on concrete they feel good & have a nice sole good shoes my feet are size 14 and are very wide so I always have problems finding foot wear no more ! !
I am looking forward to more extensive hiking than I have been able to have thus far since these new Targhees have arrived. I gave them an extra spray or two of waterproofing just to be careful and so far -- in the snowy days of Central Ohio -- they have not disappointed.
Not as nice as the original, insole is not as comfortable as they used to be, have to add extra cushioning, soles seem a bit thinner, going to take time to break in. Sizes keep changing, now back to my original 10.5, from 11.5. So if you have been a consistent 11.5, size down to 10.5.
I'm wearing my Keen boots as I day hike in Massachusetts during Covid. I am enjoying real comfort as well as the enjoying the security of feeling such tough boots as I hike the roads and climb the local trails.
I have been wearing these for years now. Comfortable and waterproof. On my feet all day and no fatigue. Other then the work. LOL. Holds up to all the weather conditions, as well as chemicals. I once had a pair separate but they were quick to send out another pair under warranty. Great shoe, Better Service!
I wear this boot daily for walking the dog, and it is winter where I live (Twin Cities of MN) as I write this review. So far (2 weeks) it has been through a deep puddle on a thaw day, and plenty of snow and ice, including snowshoeing a few times. It has been warm enough with a wool sock, and no water has passed through that I can tell. Construction appears solid. I appreciate the large toe box, which is usually where I would feel tight with thicker wool socks on other boots. This boot has a nice amount of room there. I am comfortable with the boot either thick wool socks or thinner socks. I plan to wear this boot in the summer as well, and up a half size to be able to accommodate thicker socks in the winter.
I love these shoes. They are light and yet they feel sturdy. Fit is perfect for my size 14 feet, and 14 is what I always wear for any Keen shoe. I especially like how easily these shoes slip on my feet. No tugging at all to put them on ( or take them off). It is winter here in Wisconsin and they seem to grip quite well on ice - a plus for me.
Light, good looking with a solid tongue, I've been wearing them every morning on the dog walk/ park adventures. Immediately comfortable with no break-in and the best foot bed sole in any shoes. I had plantar fasciitis and must be careful. Keen is exactly what the doctor ordered.
I normally wear a men's 8.5, which I ordered and they more or less fit pretty well but I think I could've gone up a 1/2 size and they'd fit better. Otherwise they're super comfortable, they hardly needed more than a day to feel "broken in", and the waterproofing works great in our rainy PNW winters.
Comfort and fit is spot on. Been in the snow a few times and no problem with moisture seeping in. Mainly, when I ordered Canteen/Canteen color, I was afraid it would be too bland looking but I figured, who's looking anyway? So it was nice to find Keen provided an additional red pair of shoe strings along with the standard brown already on the shoe. Off went the bland brown pair, on went the red pair. Much better!
So far I've worn this boot for about 12 hiking miles. It's a well constructed boot, made with seemingly sturdy materials. The waterproofing works. The boot is reasonably warm in below freezing temperatures. The sole tracks well in rocky, sandy or mildly muddy terrrain. The fabric-covered-leather upper material is stiffer than other Keen boots I've owned; it took a couple of days to break in. My last pair of Keen hiking boots (not waterproof) fit and felt like a cozy flexible slipper-boot, right out of the box...I am hopeful that these will loosen up more over time.
They were replacements for a warranty issue with my old pair ! Love my keen Targhee boats . I like the fit and comfort of them . I do put better orthopedic insoles in them every time . Gives them a better arch and heel cup . I am on about my sixth pair of these and still my favorites . Just wish I could get more than 6-10 months out of each pair . Soles usually wear out before uppers ! Thanks for taking care of your customers!
I bought these shoes for winter, for working in the yard, running errands, shoveling snow and snowshoeing. I've hiked 25 miles in them so far and I'm pretty happy. They are not real stiff, like a hiking boot, so if that's what you want buy something else. There is lots of room to wiggle my toes and to wear thick socks, which is good in cold weather. They remind me of old-school high top tennis shoes with a lot of padding, except more rugged than that.
This boot is my daily work wear. I live and work in Oahu Hawaii. I travel a lot for work. Currently in Singapore. This boot was great right out of the box. This is my sixth keen product. Been very happy with all of them.
I bought these for work in a retail/farm store environment. Couldn’t be happier. Feet never get tired or sore from being on the concrete floor shift after shift. So far my feet also stay dry and warm without a drop of dampness getting in and I’ve seriously put them to the test. Took about a week to break in but even that wasn’t unbearably uncomfortable enough to distract from my work.
Never again will I buy from this store on line. My son wore these to work one time and the sole fell off. His first time wearing them in general. No I did not send them back. I take it as a lesson learned.
So far, so good. Last pair made it about 4 years of heavy use. I wore the previous pair 10-12 hrs a day, on my feet, 6 days a week. I have put several miles a day on these new ones over the last 3 weeks and they still look new. Fingers crossed.
I bought these to keep my feet dry on my walk into and out of work. The rainy season here means that I am constantly wet and fighting to stay dry. These boots allow my feet to stay dry without being so hot that my feet sweat. I've started wearing them around all day and they are definitely comfortable from before sun up to after sunset.
Great shoes for cold wet adventures. They are comfortable and durable. My last pair of Keens lasted 3-4 years and I still use them. My new pair is even better. My new pair does not have the leather parts that I liked about the older designs, but still seem to be great shoes.
i broke these in for about a week before i started really hiking with them, but even in the break in period, the toe box has NO padding. so when hiking anywhere while declining, it really presses your toes into the hard front of the shoe and it hurts. my regular shoes have more padding ! it doesnt make any sense for a hiking shoe.
also the right shoe started squeaking when taking a hard step after a week and a half of owning them. no idea whats squeaking but it drives me crazy !
I wore Keens as duty boots in the fire department for about ten years. Then, black boots in my size and configuration disappeared. But now, this pair became available. Best boots I've worn in a long time. Stable, good grip on the sole, good looking and comfortable out of the box. I am very thankful to have this pair of boots again.
I live in the redwood forest of Northern California so I bought these as an every day shoe. My last pair lasted 4 years. I’ve so far only worn them for about a week and it seems some of the layers are pulling apart. Threads are pulling. Not the quality I expected.
I'm an avid hunter, angler, and freelance outdoors writer, and these are by far the lightest, most comfortable boots I've ever owned. I was floored when I first put them on. Great fit, waterproofing works, and I like that they came with a spare set of laces. Good stuff on a quality hiking boot!
These Keens are good pair of hiking boots lightweight, room in the toebox. I am a firearms instructor and I’m on the range for 8 to 10 hours a day. These boots were comfortable Right out of the box. The only downside to them was I believe they could use better insoles. I will buy another pair.
