I purchased boots from a reputable name in fly fishing and have been using them. However, I am not the most graceful person on land let alone in the water and recently took a fall in the Arkansas River. I banged up my knee and tweaked my back a little but I think I was more embarrassed than hurt. I reached out to an online fly fishing community and got a lot of responses to try Korkers. I immediately placed an order and within less than a week, I got them in and was out on the river again. I have been using them for 3 or 4 weeks now and love them. I purchased the Boa and the felt bottoms make me so much more stable on the various, moss-covered rocks in the turbulent water. I highly recommend them and won't buy anything else. I absolutely abuse my wading boots 100 days a year. The River Ops have held up better than any other boot I have found. I love the convenience of changing out my soles when the old one's become worn. Saving me the cost and hassle of getting a whole new boot. Many of my clients and fellow guides have adopted these boots for their own use. As a wader boot it's great giving you a honest evaluation that are several issues I found. 1 the boot itself could be a little stiffer around the ankle to give a little more support climbing up rocks in the river. 2 the boa closure has a tendency not to tighten all the, they LOCK but won't tighten all the way. So what happens is after you tighten them the first time, as you the balance of the slack kind of moves up so by the time you get to the stream you have to stop and retighten the Boa. Maybe even twice which brings into place the the final issue. The Boa knob and the heel strap nub make the gravel guards on waders very difficult to slde up and over. They fit real tight so when have tighten the Boa after hiking in its more of a pain. . I guess you could them up until your final destination but relocating the nub and or reshaping would be better. The Boa system is a game changer. I've had a pair of Dark Horse and Ops boots. The problem is the soles. Both began failing after a year or so. If your on a rock bottom you are probably ok, but once they wear a little if your wading with a mud bottom, it will begin pulling off the soles. I've cleaned all the connection points and they still come off at the most inconvenient times.
