Like the rugged look and stitching. Be aware...side pockets are very shallow. Cell phone, water bottle, etc all will fall out by simply walking. Don’t understand why this was a design feature but very frustrating. I probably would have returned had I not realized this until after the return window closed.
Durable, comfortable, and good looking. It is warmer than I expected too. I am 5’11” with athletic build and wear XL in pretty much everything. I got the XL in this and it ended up being too short, exchanged it for the XXL and it fits perfect. Very happy!
I really love this jacket. I have one and it ages so beautifully, looking smart and rugged all at once. My friend Kevin wanted one, but he's a small guy, so I ordered him a small. But wow, the small was almost as big in the body as my large, just with shorter sleeves. So, if you're a short guy, you'll need to skip this one.
I really wanted to love the jacket..the look, the material is super nice. However the pockets are made for tiny hands...forget wearing gloves and putting them in...and I have medium sized hands. Forget keeping a modern day sized cell phone in there safely. If you have a longer torso, you’ll have to go up a size. But if you do, then the arms are way too long and bunchy. If it were 1/2 an inch longer so that even t-shirts wouldn’t pole out an inch below, and if the pockets were made for normal sized hands and not just decorative, I’d have loved it. I returned the coat.
I LOVE this jacket so much I bought three. I never do that. I thought it had been discontinued so when I found new colors in the store, I bought two more. I tried waxing one but the results were mixed. It may just need another coating. I’m kind of barrel cheated and the XL fits perfectly. The jacket is substantial. And I’ve worn it comfortably from about 60 degrees down to well below freezing with the right layers.
love the fit and color. Jim has had had several compliments on it. We originally saw the coat at Sportco in Fife Wa. A large in that coat fit him. however they did not have to color he wanted so I ordered it on line from Kuhl. Unfortunately, the large that arrived was a different large than the one at the store and was too small. I had to return and order the XL which fit. That was the only thing that was annoying.
If a trucker jacket and a moto jacket had a 3 way with your favorite jeans, this would be the result. Don't worry if it is a little tight in the chest initially, it will stretch in like a pair of jeans. After a little time the patina and stretch combine to make this equally comfortable and good looking. Cotton has advantages and limitations. Not the warmest jacket ever, and layering under is limited by fit. I would not pick this for anything wet, but it is quite durable and makes me look as good as I think I look.
I bought this as a gift for myself. I am a bodybuilder and fluctuate in weight ALOT so I was nervous about sizing. Right now I am 6'2" and a lean 195 and the XL fits perfect, almost tailored. By April I will be back up to 235-245 and am already planning to buy one in XXL because I love this jacket. Perfect every day with a t-shirt. Layered with my interceptr 1/4 zip on colder days in Boston. Simple, clean lines, cool dyed color (gun metal) Pair perfectly with every jean I own and wolverine 1000 mile boots. Does not mix well with free Ryder's because the patina of different kuhl colors but I wear my interceptr when wearing my free Ryder's. This is the modern day Levi Jean jacket I rocked it high school, but just like me, way cooler than I was then. Lol. BUY THIS JACKET! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. John O. Boston.
It’s my second burr jacket. The first one lasted four years and is still wearable; although holes have worn in the elbows. Reinforced elbows would make this jacket perfect. I really like the style and fit.
I love the way this jacket looks and feels when it's on. However, the hand pockets are exactly too small for my hands and the design choice to use metal zippers has left me with some scraping and bleeding, especially on those cold, dry days. To make a short story long, I think the jacket could use a redesign in this area but overall I still enjoy wearing it, as long as I remember that the pockets are a pain to use.
I ordered an XL based on my existing KLASH jacket which is an XL. The BURR was way too big. Lessons learned: #1 KUHL jacket sizing is not dependable, AND #2 I won't order direct from KUHL again. I've out $27 in shipping -- both directions -- for a problem not my fault, i.e. their sizing is wacky. Will I buy another KUHL? Likely. But I'll buy it from REI or someone w/ reasonable return policy or where I can try the jacket on first.
Love the material and look of this jacket, but it seems more tailored to a slim fit than its predecessors, so wearing a thin hoody or down vest underneath makes the fit too tight. Please go back to a more relaxed fit.
