This classy sweatshirt fit the bill for my husband. It is difficult to find a nice "sweatshirt" that doesn't look ordinary. Yet, I wanted something cozy for him that felt put together. This was a gift and he loves it. I did order tall and regular length, giving him the choice. He chose regular hoping even that would shrink a bit in length. It shrunk a tad in width, but not length. It still looks good. He has 36 inch sleeves and broad shoulders. If there were other nicer colors I know he would buy more. I purchased charcoal.
I bought this sweatshirt a few months ago and fell in love with it. But sadly, it's already starting to fall apart around the cuff seams. The fabric is wearing out already and I don't wear it to work in or anything. I basically wear it around the house to stay comfortable and warm. I bought another one in a different color that I wear even less often and it hasn't shown any wear yet, but I don't think it will take long considering how quickly this one is wearing out. If it were just one side, I would think it was just a fluke, but both sides in the exact same spot starting to wear out this quickly is a little too coincidental.
What can I say? Over the past 18 months I have purchased three of these items (Navy, Teal and Hunter), plus another one (Red) as a gift for my son. It's a perfect sweatshirt and second layer for these days of working at home during the pandemic, especially in cooler weather. It's roomy and comfortable, not-too-warm and not-too-light, and a nice fit over a button-down shirt. They also look great during Zoom calls; ; indeed, I get lots of compliments from colleagues, and I suspect I've prompted a few admirers to make an L.L. Bean purchase of their own. It's also a great cover for walks, errands and shopping trips in the fall and spring. When/if the the new colors (gold, wine, light blue) are actually available, I'll probably get another one or two!
I purchased this sweatshirt in the storm color thinking it was going to be a light blue kind of color, but to my surprise it is more of a navy blue with green, like a spruce green.
However, this doesn’t take away from how soft, comfortable, and nice it is. I think the fit is slightly closer to the body but not “fitted”, which is good for me. However, my selection of somewhat small isn’t too accurate either. It fits well. I really like to wear it around or when I’m out. I would still recommend this, but keep in mind the storm will be darker than appears.
This quarter-button pullover is warm and soft, and the weight is the perfect weight for cooler temperatures. The side pockets are an added feature that I wish other clothiers would include. The storm blue color looks great with jeans or khakis.
This item runs true-to-size. I bought an identical sweater for a family member, and he loves it too. Highly recommended.
Comfortable with a bit of class, this casual 1/4-button-up sweatshirt can be worn just as easily over an oxford for an office event or evening out, as over a t-shirt for the morning run or day hike. Great size, material, and that classic LL Bean workmanship.
I was looking for a quarter zip pullover for my husband and couldn’t find any out in the stores yet, as they were behind on stocking fall inventory due to COVID. Saw this online and it was worth every penny. High quality, comfortable and classy, it looks great on my husband and he loves it! Thanks, LL Bean! Customer service was exceptional, as I spoke over the phone with an actual store employee who prepared my order and shipped it in time for the hub’s birthday. Perfect!
This sweatshirt is much thinner and lightweight than I expected. Overall the quality of the fabric and stitching feels like something from a big box store, not worth $70. Pretty disappointed in this, but not worth the hassle to return.
LL Bean is starting to seem like they’re not what they used to be. Quality is definitely suffering and not what I expect from a company that once prided itself on well-made clothes.
I bought several of these sweatshirts for hubby and he loves them. They're made beautifully, no errors in the design or in the sewing. And woo hoo, they all look great on him. He's really going to be nice and warm this winter. The sleeves are long enough, the body is cut well and looks great. the collar is very flexible. Oh, and they've been washed and dried. Bean did an outstanding job on this sweatshirt and i was there at the right time and bought them. Thanks so much Bean. You did a great job here. :)
This fits well. I usually wear a large in similar items from other stores. The medium tall fits me perfectly and I do love that. Unfortunately the quality of this just doesn’t seem to be up to the high standards I have for LL Bean products. The threads appear to be loose and I can see that it is not as durable as other similar layers I have from Bean. For $79.00 I would recommend a different product to do this job.
So far, I like this sweatshirt, although the weather has been too warm to wear it. The material feels good, and I like the color and style. It fits a little long in the torso and somewhat loose, but still acceptable. It will be great with another layer underneath for added warmth. Should be great for walking in cooler weather. I'm happy with my purchase.
Great soft fabric and nice looking sweatshirt but did not care for the kangaroo pocket. It gapes open awkwardly and looks silly. Two hand pocket would have been better and stayed closer to the body or better yet, lose the pockets altogether and make this a more versatile piece for casual or business casual wear.
Clothes can be a bit tough for me when it comes to sizing. I ordered the XL Tall and XXL Tall to compare, and the XL Tall is *perfect*. It fits very well and when I tried on the XXL Tall I felt like I was swimming in it. It's VERY cozy so I'm going to buy another color after posting this review!
It looks nice and the arm length was fine, but the body was very tight and restrictive. LL Bean is running many of their Large Talls very tight last few years. Its hit or miss. If I go up a size, its swimming on me, but the large talls on a lot of their products seem to be cut down in size from where they used to be. Seems like their design team have fallen in love with the latest male fashion trend of making the body of a shirt in men's clothing skimpy and tight fitting.
I ordered the storm blue for my husband and it is def darker in person then what’s pictured. The picture shows it as a light blue but in person it’s a darker green/blue. Was really hoping for it to be the light blue In the picture.
