I wanted a light windbreak with light insulation. This product covers what I wanted. Wore the jacket 12 times. Three walks around town with cold wind, one mountain hike in high winds just above freezing and eight days looking for cougars. The vest was eight on me or in my pack. Unfortunately the jacket shows pilling like a wool garment. I don’t believe it will last the NWT guiding season and then a month of bighorns in Alberta. I’ve never had a garment like this fail like this. It offers incredible warmth and the design is spot-on. sizing is also spot on! Unfortunately, the material doesn't meet the standards expected of an outdoor jacket. After just three months, it already looks like it's been through extreme conditions. The fabric shows wear where it rubs, which is disappointing. I believe they aimed for a quieter material with this face fabric, but it compromises on toughness. I own several lighter jackets from climbing brands that are not only quiet but also offer greater durability and packability. I’m 5'10\" and a thick 205 lbs, and the large fits me perfectly. if you have a large belly not a terrible idea to size up cause it is a touch slim. It’s a great fit for hunting, with high armpits and well-placed pockets that work perfectly when wearing a pack. Whether you’re hunting with a pack or not, this jacket is fantastic for the job.\r\n\r\nIt’s super quiet, very breathable with plenty of zips for ventilation when you’re on the move, and impressively warm when you’re sitting and glassing. The breathability doesn’t compromise its insulating properties—it’s incredibly warm and allows for layering if needed, but it’s still cozy even without heavy layers.\r\n\r\nI got this jacket last month and took it elk hunting over Christmas in Alberta in -20°C. With just a small fleece underneath, it kept me very warm. On a warmer day, when temperatures rose to about -5°C, I wore it over a shirt while hiking and glassing all day, and it was perfectly comfortable. The hood is another highlight—it keeps the wind off without getting in your face, which is a big plus.\r\n\r\nI did run into a small issue with the jacket, but Quinn at SG provided the best customer service I’ve ever experienced. Stone Glacier’s service is unmatched, after owning gear from other brands like Kuiu, I can confidently say SG’s service alone will keep me loyal to them. It reminds me of Sitka from 10 years ago when they were still reasonably priced and had great quality.\r\n\r\nSome folks have mentioned the clothing being made in Vietnam, but considering the quality and how much more affordable SG gear is compared to Sitka and Kuiu (both made in China), I think it’s a non-issue. The pit zips are amazing and make the jacket so much more versatile. I can grab it in a variety of weather conditions and know that it is going to be what I need. The hood does not obstruct your field of view and I absolutely love it. The zipper in the neck area feels weird at first but once you put the hood on, the fit is perfect and you would not want it any other way. The internal sleeve pockets are great if you need to quickly store something or want to dry a pair of gloves or socks. \r\n\r\nThat being said, a few thing could be improved or changed to make it perfect in my opinion:\r\n- Both pockets need a small lip at the bottom of the zipper. With the current design I lost count of the times where I grabbed something out of the pocket only for something else to fall out of it.\r\n- The fabric against the zipper gets damaged in the neck area if you don't shave. After the first use I saw visible wear (chafing) and it hasn't gotten better since then. Growing a beard doesn't solve the problem either. Maybe add a tougher fabric in this area.\r\n- The fabric in the back is quite thin, if you wear a small pack, you might see some wear after short use because of the straps rubbing against it. \r\n- The zippers are quite strong but hinder the pack size of the jacket. Some smaller one might help with that without affecting the durability of the jacket.\r\n\r\nI'd still recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a great and versatile synthetic insulation jacket if you don't mind the pack size. However, I'm giving it a 4 out of 5 due to its durability. The Pertex material used is less durable than other fabrics I've encountered. Although it's a quieter version of Pertex, it compromises on durability. It feels very well built with good materials, very warm, and fits nicely (for the most part).\r\n\r\nBut, I have a couple issues with the jacket.\r\n1. I was under the impression that Stone Glacier apparel was made in America. Looked at the tag and \"Made in Vietnam\" was staring right at me. That's a hefty price tag to be paying for something made in Vietnam. And there's similar jackets on the market that are priced considerably better.\r\n\r\n2. The zipper in the neck area is awful and extremely uncomfortable when zipped all the way up. It literally zips up to my eyes. And if you don't zip it all the way you have what seems like way too much fabric bunched up. It just makes the neck/hood area super awkward feeling. The Stone Glacier Cirque Jacket has emerged as my favorite jacket to bring on hunts. It sheds moisture and wind. It's magically warm...much warmer than you would think. It has pit zips for ventilation, expanding when and how you can wear this piece. The hood fits perfectly when you want it...there is no fiddly adjustments. You can sweat in it and it dries quickly and remains warm. You can put insulation under or over it... a simple but perfect jacket. I started out using it just for hunting, but now I use the Cirque jacket year around. You can sweat in it and it dries out and stays warm. The first of its kind for Stone Glacier, the Cirque Jacket is the multi-tool of your hunting kit, melding heat and moisture management in an insulating garment. Designed to shine on high exertion hunts through a broad range of temperatures (thank you pit zips), the Cirque also can be worn as an insulation layer. Primaloft® synthetic insulation and DWR Pertex® fabric provide superior breathability as well as wind and moisture resistance.

Pertex® Quantum uses a tightly woven structure to provide a light and soft fabric that allows insulation to fully loft while also being quiet, wind-resistant, lightweight and packable.
