Fit is true to size. Been using Guide Shorts for a couple years! Only weakness is belt buckle plastic is soft and gets damaged in the washing machine. I got a pair a few years back and another pair when i got my new bike last month. \nThe padded liner fits comfortably and doesn't feel bulky or awkward. I've ridden with and without these shorts and it does make a big difference. A more comfortable feel in the saddle makes for a more enjoyable ride. \nI have used the outer short to kayak and hike in. They work really well for both. They have several extra pockets and are light weight and quick drying. The shorts are also excellent and are constructed with the utmost care. The one caveat is size. I'm 5'10\" and 169 lbs. I usually wear a size 35/36 waist. I ordered an XL. They barely fit around my waist, which is odd because the size guide denotes XL as a 35\"-37\" waist.
