I've used it locally in California and in Florida. The rod muscles 6 ft sharks and bat rays with ease, and the fast action blank likes to load up with 8 to 10 oz. sinkers and big cut baits. I like to fish my swimming plugs conveniently. Big Danny’s late in the season, pencils for migrating fish. The 50/50 split makes traveling with this rod in most types of vehicles. This rod has done everything needed and more, I’ve thrown 3.5 + oz plugs and 5&6 oz jigs. When the bass were on sandeels it made it a breeze throwing tins. I was able to scale down to a lighter shorter rod but not sacrifice distance on my cast. They are focused on these smaller baits so you need to be able to throw light lures. My Battalion II 12-20 conventional surf rod is just what I need! I have coupled it with an old-school Penn 140 Squidder and it is working perfectly.
