I was desperately looking for a sturdy ramp. It's currently September 2025. I have two Labs. One is 77 lb and the other one is 65. I use this a minimum of four times a day. I am not gentle with it. It is sturdy. My one caveat to anyone purchasing this would be to check the dimensions of the width of any passenger doors you intend to use. My dogs enter the car via the back door. It fits perfectly in my Highlander. Not as good a fit on my Subaru, but it still works. Works great on the truck obviously. I ended up seeing a second one in a thrift store for $40 and snatched it up. So now one lives in my garage. And the other one lives in my car. This is worth every penny. I had purchased it because I had a plastic one that broke. If you have big dogs, plastic ones will work for a while. But if you want to traumatize your dogs just let one break. And then try to get your dogs on another ramp. Good luck. As far as the build, it is welded aluminum. It has an anti-skid sandpaper like tread for the dogs to walk on. It's not indestructible and mine has quite a few scratches but I've had some even bigger dogs using it. It does get hot, so keep that in mind when placing it in the car. It's going to be baking in the sun while you are doing whatever you're doing. So try to keep it out of the sun or throw a towel over it. If you are frail, you probably don't have big dogs. This is not as light as my plastic one obviously. But I'm in my '60s and I manage it just fine. One last tip, my more frail dog is getting leery of heights now, so I have a thick piece of sturdy foam on the high end of the ramp to make the step up from doorway level to the seat a little shorter. I also place my body so I can act as a guard rail because sometimes she stumbles. She also wears a kurgo harness so I can keep hold of her as she enters and exits the car. Very disappointing considering I also have the plastic folding version of the Happy Ride that has been in use for over 7 years and shows no signs of the grip material peeling after daily use into and out of a car. I can provide pictures of both if necessary. I am 62 and am still able to muscle the ramp into out of our Chrysler \nPacifica. We have a boxer that is somewhat disabled and the 20inch width is what he needs to feel comfortable in going up and down. I believe that the company would profit greatly if they took the shorter ramp and extended the width 20 inches.
