Three Dobermans, one Greyhound, and now our second Standard Poodle we have broken down and ordered our second set of Grip Trex. These boots are terrific. Because of length of toenails (my fault) the toe of a couple of the boots is splitting out, the Velcro doesn’t adhere as well, and the soles are showing there wear. I can’t tell, or even imagine, how many miles these boots have on them, but who cares, these are the best boot, in my opinion, on the market. I am 77 years young. I plan to buy our third set in 2030. The booties would last around two hundred miles of backpacking.\nUnfortunately, todays RuffWear booties are way too small. They stay on, protect their feet and don’t rub or chafe. My Poodle has shaved Poodle feet. From May to October, we use these boots on every outing due to heat. This is daily use. My dogs are service dogs, so the shoes get lots of wear. They’ve been absolutely indispensable for walking my dog on the south Florida pavement. As an added bonus she has way more traction inside on tile and hardwood as well. My previous service dog's Grip Trex lasted 7 years' worth of scorching summers and year-round hazards, so they certainly last. The bottoms are a lot more hardy than the Hi & Light shoes that I have (which I also use and like), so I grab the Grip Trex for hot pavement and the Hi & Light for warmer-than-ideal pavement. I also like that there is reflectivity on these Grip Trex, which some styles don't have. One MAJOR drawback for me is that the Grip Trex DON'T have the size imprinted on the bottom of them like Ruffwear's other styles have. I hope that future versions include the size, because it makes it very easy to use if your dog has two different sized boots. (pro tip: buy two separate colors for the two separate sizes, and this will save you time and frustration for figuring out which is which). I have also found that this style makes my dog's feet sweatier than the Hi & Light. The sole is thick for protection but allow flexibility, and the upper material is light and breathable. My dog was able to start walking in the pretty easily. I also like that the toe box is reinforced. However, I wish they came in smaller sizes and went a tiny bit higher on the dog's leg as they kept slipping off my dogs paw (his paw width measures slightly under the smallest size at 1.375\", so that's to be expected). Most of the trip was shaded forest and my dog just carried them in her pack. When the terrain switched to rocky and hot I was soooo glad we had them.
