We found out of necessity that the outer stuff pouch performs excellently as a child carrier for a 3 year old in a pinch. The quality of the straps and waist belt allowed me to hike over rough terrain with the extra load without issue. I bought this pack almost begrudgingly because of the $$ for a daypack. However, after seeing the features and quality in action, I am sold on Stone Glacier products. On this day I was able to pack my fishing gear, rod, rain layers, water bottles, snacks, baby wipes/pull-ups, and 3 yo without issue. it’s not as large as I was picturing based on the ad, but with it listing the internal storage capacity that’s simply due to my interpretation the pictures. \nThe basic storage system is tidy and makes sense, the internal pockets aren’t in the way of the main pocket, and the front pocket is perfect for larger binos. \nThe issue I do have with it, is that if you’re filling the internal pockets as depicted in the images with the pack almost bulging the outside front pocket becomes nearly useless since it’s more or less an inside pocket with external access. Even if just packing a large jacket, it will push hard against the external pocket making it difficult to access it to insert or remove items. It would be nice to have it sewn in separately from the internal wall and gusseted, so that the internal contents don’t affect the external pocket’s capacity. \nBut I’ve used this pack for EVERYTHING, from overnight-or-two backwoods trips, to daylong sits in blinds or stands, to carrying my laptop, files, and other things for work, to using the pack as my carry-on while flying. \nThe straps would be capable and at home on a much larger pack, as they’re overkill for a pack this small, but not on a way that hinders this pack. Tough enough to stand up to the mesquite and burs, small enough to not be cumbersome, but room enough to hold hunting kit for the day. The all-season Avail 2200 is built to carry any essential gear for day hunts, scouting or skiing at just 3 lbs 0.8 oz. The Avail 2200 is designed to be used either stand-alone with its own Avail suspension and internal frame.

The Avail 2200 is equally at home with a load of hunting gear or technical climbing/ski gear.
