I believe this is more of a powerful rod than stated. maybe even as powerful as the Ugly Stick Catfish. I do very much recommend changing out the Pre-spooled line for something like 20lbs Mono, or even 30lbs. The 50 size reel handles well, a little clunky but gets the job done. I also would prefer the bail on the reel to be a little smaller as I can sometimes hit my fingers on it while reeling. The sinkers and hooks are a bonus too. For the price I definitely recommend for all stages of fishing experience beginner or pro.
