I bought this primarily as a bed-side safe, but it also does double-duty as a travel safe for the car. The security cable secures it to my bed and to my seat for \"discouragement\" level anti-theft. It is roomy enough for my full size S&W M&P 9 plus one mag with room to spare. I did not want purely battery-operated electronics for my safe, where I have to establish a PM routine for changing the batteries. The external charger cord for the internal re-chargeable battery and the easy battery level check means I don't have to worry about the battery being dead just when I need it (but it does have a key override if everything does fail). But Scheels wants a review now, third email. It has been working well the six times I have opened it. The beep revels the number of digits your pass code is. But also tells you if you screwed it up and need to start over, so you decide on that one. I really like the cable lock and how it is fixed in the corner allowing you to easily lock it down or take it with you when unlocked. If the battery dies you can charge it without opening it thru external USB.
