It’s what I consider the bottom caliber for elk without having much kick. They’ve killed everything from baboons to big bull elk with them. I think it’s a fantastic caliber for women! Eighteen years ago my oldest daughter shot her first 2 elk and an antelope with it when she was twelve with no complaints about recoil. Sighted it in to print 3″ high at 100 yds and it has held its zero for at least that long. I always fire ONE round (ditto the $5.00 trigger squeeze mentioned by the previous poster) before each hunting season here in CO and the lone bullet hole in the paper has NEVER moved – 12o’clock at 3″ high! It’s one awesome caliber and has taken over a dozen elk and at least twice that number of mulies over the years. Oh, yeah, silver Leupold 4x-12x glass in Leupold mounts. It doesn’t have a tremendous kick. It us exceptionally accurate and has a load of power! To this day I currently own (2) MarkV .270. 1980 MarkV Deluxe and a 1992 MarkV Weathermark. I mainly hunt mule deer in the west. That .270 mag always drops them in their tracks. So flat shooting and hard hitting. When out hunting it’s a point aim drop out to 400 yards. No range finder no messing around put hair in the scope and squeeze!!!
