In fact, I have turned them off when skiing because I did not need the extra heat during aerobic activity. They are only heated on the top outside of the glove. They are very lightly insulated. Took them out today while walking my dog and with the heat set to highest they are slightly less warm than a normal pair of fleece mittens. Which cost $15 bucks and I can through a chemical heater in them if it's really cold. Wearing these heated glomitts inside my house on the highest setting (with a burn warning ????) they are... warm. I am so disappointed I spent this much money on a pair of gloves and they don't actually keep my hands warm when I'm outside. Not sure what they're good for.
