I've been wearing these for 2 years, and they haven't let me down. The only downside was that the back of the shoe wore out, and I asked Hoka to use my warranty, but I wasn't able to. I still have these shoes and wear them even though the back is worn out. I wear them to the gym for cardio, strength training, and weight lifting, and I've never slipped there. Very comfortable with a wide base sole sturdy enough for walking on uneven ground and the bottom gripped the wet surfaces with ease. No problem with balance or slipping. However, walking down the steep rim trail proved very painful to my toes. I laced them up tighter but that didnt help. Thinking it's just gravity, nothing to do about that. My son wore a different brand said he didnt experience any problems with the hike downhill.
