TNF calls this a \"top tier\" 2 person \"expedition tent\". Named \"Mountain 25 Tent\". What kind of weather would I find on a mountain? Anything...from beautiful, sunny and calm, but more often, unsettled weather, big snow storms, blizzards, and often strong wind and even stronger gusts...and frigid temperatures...aka, weather extremes.\n\nDo not buy this tent just because you love TNF brand, and the Summit orange/yellow color. Do not buy this tent for camping in warm or hot and humid summer camping. You miss the point. \n\nNot only is this a four season tent (which really means suitable for winter), it is also an \"expedition tent\"...made to keep you alive in the harshest of (winter) conditions, and small enough to carry into the mountains. \n\nAnyone who buys this tent should know that windy places like the mountains require guying out all the guy lines. Taught, and pointing front or rear vestibule into the direction of the wind. Expedition campers are detail oriented campers. Every piece of equipment has a purpose and value and the use (setup) of the equipment matters in extremes. \n\nIf you're camping in snowy mountains like this tent is designed for, bring the proper winter snow stakes (spades really) and use them. \n\nOk, enough soapboxing...here's my short review:\n\nI've used this tent above 10,000 in the Colorado Rockies. I've used it in sustained 35mph winds at 20°F. I've used it below 0°F. When properly setup, and guy lined out, this tent is strong, and worthy. It is not tall nor huge. I've used it with 2 adults and solo. Solo feels the most luxurious with ample room for everything. It will fit two adult winter campers with gear but not 3. IMO, it would be too tight with two adults and a dog. Even with the footprint the tent floor gets wet. Through various legal and mostly ethical means through the years, I've managed to get ahold of this bad boy but never paid more than $150. Envy me. I know a good tent when I see one.\n\nMajor upgrades from previous versions. I like the screened vents inside the roof (past version was not screened) and prop-up vents on the fly. Increases breathability of the tent quite a bit. \n\nStill getting used to using this effectively. I find it difficult to access the inside from the large vestibule, using it as a garage and I enter/exit from the short side. Takes choreography and planning to enter and exit. \n\nTakes at least 20-30 minutes to set this up correctly, soup to nuts (removing it from the bag, assembling poles, etc.). Not a point-to-point tent but definitely a base camp for your explorations.\n\nIn the past, I've had seepage issues with many NF tent floors. A few have been very weatherproof, too. I do like NF and use it when I can. My biggest problem with their tents has always been breathability and air flow. I got rid of my beloved Rock 22 because it was just too suffocating in bad weather. My previous Mountain 25 was a condensation monster in cold weather.\n\nI replaced the stuffy Rock 22 with a less expensive brand that I do not expect to get a lot of years out of, but it has superior venting. Great 2-person tent. First time, condensation, second time, none. When properly vented, this tent is a must for winter camping. Comes with everything you need (and four snow flap things that I have no idea what to do with). Great product. Well-made. Not the lightest, but I have figured out what to leave at home to lighten the load a little. Can fully sit up without heading your head (5'10\") and LOTS of pockets on the inside.
