On July 14, 2021, SCHEELS announced plans to build a new store in the Towne East Square development in Wichita, Kansas. Opening Spring 2023, SCHEELS Wichita will be the second store location in the state and will feature 220,000 square feet of retail and attraction space for families to enjoy. “With the success of our store in Overland Park, we are thrilled to bring a second SCHEELS location to the state of Kansas,” said SCHEELS CEO Steve M. Scheel.

As an employee-owned company, SCHEELS takes pride in offering the best customer service as well as being active members of the community through volunteering, donations, and local partnerships. Steve M. Scheel explained, “SCHEELS can’t wait to become a new partner in the Wichita community.”

Wichita SCHEELS will be more than just a sporting goods store. When the doors open, families will be able to experience 85 specialty shops featuring everything from hunting and fishing gear to athletic clothing, sports equipment, and fashion brands. Plus, our trained experts will be ready to help assist customers and answer any questions. Aside from offering quality products, SCHEELS Wichita will also offer a selection of different services including a bike service shop and more to maintain your favorite sporting goods equipment.

With the wide variety of different entertainment options, the SCHEELS store in Wichita, Kansas will truly be a one-of-a-kind retail destination. At the entrance, there will be a beautiful aquarium filled with a variety of colorful fish. Other fun attractions will include a large Fuzziwig’s Candy Shop, rollerball, a wildlife mountain, and interactive games and simulators. You will even be able to enjoy a tasty meal or special treat at Ginna’s Café, a restaurant that serves gourmet soups and sandwiches, homemade fudge, and more.

Upon opening, Wichita SCHEELS will be the company’s 31st location and will employ over 400 associates.
